Valueline 6 inch blower Noise

ok thanks man. Ive also heard hanging them from bungies will stop the vibration. I ask these questions because ive never heard one before, the only one i have is a cheap 4 inch inline duct fan from and old cab. and if i buy a can fan its more money and its not going to be that much quieter now is it? i also dont want to spend 50 for variac speed control but if i have to i have no choice.

so variac and bungies? or just bungies? im not sure if its the airflow that will be making noise or the fan motor?

My 8" doesn't make any fan noise just air. I dial the speed down and you can hear the ballast above the fan. At full speed it moves some mofo'n air. So the scrubber even has air noise from the sucking. I'm blowing it into R8 8" duct and face it, it still the loudest thing in the garden.

But it is not louder than a vortex or a can. This fan is a value in my mind. No it's not as well built as the others but I think it's the best of the rest..... I paid $135 for my 8" and I think at the price I did just fine compared to a vortex etc. At that price I can add another 8" cheaply. I think I'm going to match a 10" to a can 100 in the future.

Get yourself a "RUCK" fan. Mount it correctly and silence if reqd. They are the most silent/reliable and efficient fans you can buy and are not to expensive.
Aucoustic ducting hose is also a good investment rather than the standard ducting hose.

I got a tjerlund or however you spell it for a great price($97) and moves 520CFm at max. A bigger fan moving say 200cfm is gonna run quieter than a 4" fan running 200cfm since it would have to increase its velocity in order to push that air. Its better to overpower your cab and thn turn the fan down to keep sound lower.

if you har a whining noise your running your fan on the limits of to low and its showing you that a little bit of extra speed should help.

Also when it comes to quieting down a fan you have many different approaches( hanging, insulating duct work and rubber pads) I think the best way to control heat, at least for me since my fans out of the cab is to put it in a Rubbermaid filled with insulation and than putting a rubber pad underneath. You can't see the duct running it and coupled with the speed controller does much better than just a regular fan. Don't forget to also put a foam tape around the connections to the duct to limit vibrations.

OR if you don't need the full-fan speed then you can get a variac and slow the motor down and it will not effect the product-life of your fan. All of the other ideas will just muffle the fan to make it quieter, when you may need to slow down the rotation to suit your needs.

I run a valuline 6", on a cheap ass harbor freight router speed controller

NO HUM, I run it at about 60%-70% of full blast and it cuts the noise by about 40%

the FAN itself is rather quiet, but the AIRFLOW makes all the noise

GREAT fans, FIVE YEAR GUARANTEE (and they honor em too!), HALF the cost of a vortex, and yes, about TWICE as loud running full blast, but just reduce the speed by about 30% and it's totally tolerable.
