Question About Buying a new house

I have been on the market looking to purchase a new house, i happened across some nice looking cheaper houses in the country with land and noticed they are only wired up for 100AMP electrical service.

So lets say i decide to "buy" one of these houses, would having set ups that use 1000w hid or more even be possible?
i did a little researching but could not find anything related to this any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Assuming you are in the USA...

No big deal, in most cases. You'd need to check with the power co. to make sure there isn't some kind of crazy size restriction on your incoming PowCo feed. That's highly unlikely, but very easy to check.

So then you are just faced with an equipment upgrade. Figure $1,000 - $2,000 to upgrade your main panel to 200 amps and then you're set for just about anything you want to add on for your grow.

Hope that helps!

100 Amps will be enough to run the whole house with hot tub detached garage, a 2k sealed room ( 12ooo btu ac, fans, Co2) and a 1500 watt veg/ mother room.

Hey junior, no its not a brand new house, quite the opposite actually, i believe the house was built in 1975?? but only has 100amp service, i think im going to either deal and see what happens or attempt to getting 200amps put in....

100 amp service is no problem. Done multi-kw grows in many places wired for 100 amp service.

A 1kw only uses 9 amps, less than most space heaters. The only amperage you're concerned with is the amperage for the particular circuit you are using.

Unless you're going 10kw or higher, but if yoou were doing that, you'd already know the answer

Hi Hans,
What the house is capable of being upgraded to depends on the size of the transformer up on the pole where your entry line comes from. Maybe you could have an electrician come in and evaluate the situation for upgrade as part of your negotiation.

The transformers can be upgraded but obviously the power company would rather not do that (parts and labor) and that's where some questions might occur...about why you need such an increase.

Hope the deal goes good and you have plants growing soon.

depending on where you live in the united states it could cost you aound $175 a month to run 4000 all the way up to i imagine 700-1000 if you live in say california where its like 20 something cents a kilowatt.

just figure out how much your power company charges per kilowatt and you shold be able to calculate how much it will cost you exactly.
