first time hydro shop visit question

first time going into a hydro shop will be in the next week, and i do not live in a med state but they have a website and pics of there products so they have what i need and they look legit, but should i wear sunglasses and nice clothes? this might sound like a weird question but im trying to be as safe as i can.

Use common sense . Don't go in stoned . If you wear sunglasses , lift them when you walk into the store so you can make eye contact with the sales person you are speaking to . Dress casually . Know what you want and what you are talking about . Never talk about photoperiod in a hydrostore . Very few ornamental flowers require a photoperiod to bloom . Talk of photoperiod is a dead giveaway to what you are doing .

I follow 3 rules when i go.
Rule #1-- know what you want, before you go. (less talking to staff that way)
Rule #2-- No matter how cool the guy behind the cash register seems. Dont talk about or bring up anything about what you are doing. (See Rule #1 on growing)
Rule #3-- I always pay cash or prepaid Visa.

Although I don't worry about it, there have been other threads here on ICMAG where people recommend borrowing a safe car or at least be aware of someone possibly watching the store.

UPDATE to Justintime - I mentioned it because if the OP was thinking about wearing sun glasses to the store. This, in my mind, would be in the same category security wise. Since I live in Cali, I've never done either.

Do a cloverleaf if you want to see if you are followed in a borrowed car. On the freeway/off/on/off, no one except someone following you is going to do that.

there was a bloke called geeza growlight that had something to do with the ukcultivator site in the uk that had a grow shop and the police used to leave a marked police car sitting right outside his shop.i also think he was getting grief from his local council aswell.

when wanting to buy stuff as been said already its best to no what you want beforehand.

i live only 15 mins away from my local shop and years ago was cool,but now theres so many growers out there it would only be a matter of time before i spotted someone local or i was spotted by someone.

now i only use that shop in an absolute emergency and then never taking my car anywhere near the shop itself.buy the stuff and take a 5 min walk to the car,totally out of sight.

this is a real p.i.t.a when carrying 2 50l sacks of coco stuffed into a large holdall.

The nearest growshop to me is right along a highway at a county road intersection . Ever since that business started . I have driven past a few times and have more frequently seen sheriff deputies & state police clocking people on the highway from that intersection ; on the road right beside the hydro shop .

Be careful driving anywhere near a hydro store. I was going to mine one day and as I turned on to the road that it is on(completely legally) a cop car runs through the intersection and follows me past the store, then I turn on to a high volume road. He is still following me and I'm going exactly the speed limit with him all over my ass. I turn into the first plaza and he pulls in behind me then I parked and started walking into a Publix in the plaza. The cop slowly drives by me and leaves.

I have no idea what it was about, but I remember looking over at him right before he started following me and he was just staring at me. And I have to admit I kind of look like a pothead, so I believe he was trying to follow me to the hydro store. Mostly because the only thing on that road is the hydro store, a tow company and an office.

You should wear a glenn plaid kanga hat and a pair of those glasses with the big nose and mustache. And ride in on a unicycle... that'll throw em off..

Interesting thread, I'll keep this stuff in mind. Never thought of it, but it makes sense for cops to lurk hydro stores now and then. +rep

Just the thought makes me laugh (at least in my case). Both the Hydro stores I frequent are 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive away in a different state from where I live. If a cop wants to follow me that far, let them follow. I'm not sure about your area, but the cops in our part of the country have way more to worry about than a guy with a few plants in his closet. The big commercial growers are asking for it and they often get it. I'm not saying be reckless or anything, but I seriously doubt that many busts are happening because of surveillance of a Hydro store or a purchase made thru eBay being delivered to your home. Oh.... hold on.. there's a loud knock on my door!.. Oh no... It's the cops... I gotta go... Honey get my gun!

where i live the cops are you're last worry, Here the gangs setup a tail from the hydro stores, follow a bit, figure out where the grow is and at night THEY go GET you're plants equipm etc. Its happened to a few people here that i heard of, 1 guy i know had his done.
