Reflector Fell On Budding Plants??!

Wel..I got some flowering plants..21 days into bloom..they got little buds and all that...the thing is right now,the lights came on,and I hit the reflector (HTG Supply bat-wing)..and the whole thing fell down right on top of my plants!! :dunno: I quickly picked it up,and just gave them a good foliar feed with seaweed to ease any stress that mighta happen..

Nothing major..no broken branches,stems..just a couple fan leaves and one lower popcorn branch..

1.Just how fragile are the buds..will they stop growing or something? Is the force of a falling reflector bad enough to harm the buds or stunt them in any way?

2.Did the plant get stressed in any way..delay flowering?I know one shouldnt touch buds cus they can get "hurt" by the force..?

Any comments much appreciated...

They're actually incredibly resilient. You've already checked and found no structural damage - they've probably already forgotten about it. You aren't going to 'turn them off' with a little bump like that or anything. Plants outdoors routinely deal with worse. :smoke:

Thanks Strain..Im def the "nervous" type..any little thing..I stress over if they got stressed..are they stunted..all that lol...Do you have any personal experience with damaging buds? Does anyone have any similar stories..of damaging flowering plants..in any way?

I just need some kind of reassurance..since Iv always read "buds are very fragile..dont even TOUCH them..or the pistil itself can die..and the hairs turn prematurely brown?

The reflector landed pretty damn hard right on top of them?

Yes. It seems that when I damage some of my strains, they grow more vigorously, especially the deisels and the sativa/indica hybrids. Many marijuana plants thrive really well after minor injury. I almost snapped off the top cola of one of my deisels and my husband thought it was gone for sure, but it just made the side growth get super crazy and the top is still got new grooth too and it was barely hanging on by 1/8".

Thanks..any more comments..and lets say they DID get stressed..the stress will be minor right?..they should recover in a day or so rright?...It wont stunt their flowering by like days..or a week or something right?!! :hide::microwave::microwave::Bolt:

I've had clones grow up into hot bulbs and burn, I've had ties come loose and stems snap under their own weight. I've 'stubbed' top buds into the door of my cabinet and mashed them flat. I mash buds into each other, branches entangled hopelessly from time to time when my tent is really crowded and I have to play puzzlemaster to get them all back in. It really isn't that big a deal.

All things being equal, you probably shouldn't touch your buds if you can help it. But it's hard to do catastrophic damage to them. If your batwing is as lightweight as the one my buddy uses (w/ 400hps bulb in his case) and no stems have broken and nothing is mangled beyond recognition, you really shouldn't worry. Plus, at day 21 you have plenty of time left for them to recover.

Secure the light so it doesn't happen again, but don't stress over the plants. :)

I have to chop them down in around a month more..and they just started their 3 week tonight..I cant have them stall in any way..how big are buds supposed to be in the 3 week from seed?...

if you saw what i do to my plants you would be shocked... lol

what they should look like after 3 weeks flower would more depend on your strain

they should have white hairs/pistils coming out of the small leaves. and should start to take shape

if its a fast strain then the shape of the kola should be there, and the next few weeks they should swell.

a slow sativa/haze will just about be showing sex pistils

.how big are buds supposed to be in the 3 week from seed?...

At that point non existent

Since that seems to be a typo then @ 3 weeks you're looking at fingertip size 'buds'

V1AAA has it well covered ..... they'll be fine, in a week you won't know it happened

They're probably mad but they will get over it. If you kept doing it they would protest. My dog ate mine and they came back...sort of.

If no branches are broken, don't worry about it.

2.Did the plant get stressed in any way..delay flowering?

Please see above.

I know one shouldnt touch buds cus they can get "hurt" by the force..?

Touch them, if you like. There just isn't much of a point in doing it so early in flowering. Later, as the calyxes develop, a light pinch can give a hint as to the future taste/smell of the strain.

Any comments much appreciated...

Best of luck with the grow.

Simon
