time to setup new room

hows it going everyone. I am going to be setting up 4 1000w hps lights in air cooled hoods in a space thats roughly 8'x6' i don't have all that much headroom i can probably get the lights up 6'.

the room is actually 6x12 i think but i'm gonna be partitioning off the 8x6 leaving the other 4ft to store the ballasts and nutes and whatnot.

the lights are going to be vented to another room to help heat the house. the same with the exhaust. i'm not sure if i'm going to run the lights on there own line or hook them up to the carbon scrubber.

either way i could use 2 fans one on top of the carbon scrubber pulling the exhaust air through the lights with the other fan at the beginning of the lights. i imagine with the 2 fans there will be plenty of air flow to keep everything cool. the intake air is going to come through a allergen filter.


i'm still waiting on a roll of panda plastic, mylar, and block-ir for some thermal protection from the eye in the sky

i have 3 packs of seeds i'm going to be germinating all of them. i have Green Devil and Zei from tiki seeds and Kali Mist from serious. hopefully i'll be able to get a bunch of ak47 and sour diesel cuts to fill up the space thats left over so i can have a full room to harvest. Once i have some moms picked out i'm gonna have everything in four stages about 2 weeks apart.

vegging is gonna be done in 1 gallon grow bags under a 400w mh and a 400w hps than put into 5 gallon for flower. the plan is to run a plant per square foot or around somewheres around there.

the room still isn't completely cleaned out but once it is i'll have pics up.

well something happened to the box with the nutes in it but i'm gonna be getting that today so i'll see what got damaged. The panda plastic and grow bags will be here in a few days. gonna start germinating the beans. still havent finished cleaning the room out but i'm gonna try and do that today so i can start putting together the frame for the flower room. pretty much get everything ready for the panda plastic and mylar and stuff.

i snapped some more pics here, still have stuff i have to take out of the room. but i still have a few days until the rest of the stuff i need comes. i have to work on running power for all the ballasts up to the room. frame up where the partition is gonna be in the room. figure out where i'm gonna mount the carbon scrubber. i was thinking about maybe putting it in the next room over but i'de like to keep it in the room if i can, i was also thinking about just mounting it to the ceiling between the lights.

would i be better off running all four lights in a row or having a Y piece than two straight shots? have it go 2 6" to a 8". i'm not sure how well putting a Y would work, it would be no good if one side got significantly less airflow. i'm thinking that because the fan is a little over kill the bends from having everything inline won't slow down the air too much.

I'm not sure why you would want to carbon scrub the air that cools the lights. What I would do is get a "wye" 8 x 6 x 6 and use the 8 inch fan to cool all 4 lights, so you suck the air through the lights , and you would have 2 passive intakes, and 2 sets of 2 lights inline running to the "wye" which is hooked directly to the 8 inch fan.

Use the 6 inch as exhaust and scrubber, together, whenever the exhaust runs, it gets scrubbed as it discharges the air... so no smell, and heat reduction, etc....

Good luck, my first real grow was in a 8 by 6 space, and I had a similar setup as you.. of course back then air cooled hoods only came in 4 inch cooling models... I used to pull 4 or 5 lbs out of that room....

well the plan was to exhaust the air from the room through the lights and out the carbon scrubber . if i do that than having the lights in two 6" inline rows going to the 8" should work great which was what i was getting at. i figured the 8" fan should be able to scrub the air and cool the lights in one shot. and have a passive intake.

the 6" fan isn't near enough for that scrubber. i plan on using that to cool/exhaust my veg area

so i got the rest of my stuff to build the flower and veg room. well i started germinating the kali mist, zei, and green devil. i'm only going to veg them for 2 weeks, the kali might only get 1. i have some lifesaver, deep chunk, and mango haze beans on the way too. i also have some bagseed from some really good outdoors i might pop a few of. one of them is a mango haze cross and the others i can't recall off the top of my head, kush crosses i think. i wanna try to fill up the flower room as quick as i can to get all the males out as soon as possible to make room for all clones that will get a good veg .

i'll take pics along the way while i'm putting the rooms together, the only thing is i'm waiting on a plug i ordered so i can run the 1000 watters off my 240. i may just run extension cords from different parts of the house for now just so i can get an idea of what my temps are gonna look like.

well i got all the beans under the 400w mh. all of em made it but i lost one zei bean. i just tried upload pics but didn't work i'll try again later.

i have to go exchange some stuff but i'm hoping to get the flower room put together tomorrow.
