would any of yall stop smoking bud in order to be in the Olympics?
now when I say that I could be in the Olympics I ain't B-shitting.
I could very very easily train to be in the Olympics.
cuz I am great at Olympics sports.

the question is would be worth it to stop smoking bud to train and tryout for the Olympics and possibly not make it?
and I know that it is very very very hard to qualify to compete in the Olympics.

"I have an Olympics" . . . lol

I don't know of any frequent smokers that are really "world class athletes" . . .

I work out 5X a week (free weights, cardio, periodization) and have for about 5 1/2 years and I'm not anywhere near that shape, but if I was hell yes I'd quit smoking. I can't smoke at all as it is and train, i vaporize, smoking would put you at a serious disadvantage in pretty much every test of endurance . . . probably eliminate you from being a true competitor.

What sport are you that good at?

Anyways, yah I'd quit.

Yeah...like that bong-toking swimmer dude--:dunno: :smokeit:

I'm gonna go out a limb (lol) and say that it was something he very seldom does, and as a result of doing it (this time and getting caught) he literally was eliminated from the competition. lol.

This is a quote from an AP article regarding the photo:

"Michael Phelps has been suspended from competition for three months by USA Swimming, the latest fallout from a photo that showed the Olympic great inhaling from a marijuana pipe."

like i said, literally eliminated from the competition. lol.

3 months in which how many major swimming events were held?

@ the op, if you really think you have a chance, why are you even asking? Then again, if you bother to ask, you probably dont have a chance.

unfortunately I'm not on the US Swimming team, so I wouldn't know. . . . but even if it was 0 it changes nothing . . . he also lost sponsors (money)

the OP asked if he should quit smoking pot to train and tryout for the Olympics, and I'm sticking with my "if you're serious . . . yes you should" answer

gonna go out on a limb and say if you have not already been training all your life for 'your olympic' chosen sport...... than you probably don't have much of a chance.......

but that would make it all that much better when you bring us that gold medal......:groupwave:..... i say go for it......

Yeah...that was a token punishment--
Not trying to argue...you are cool with me...but I think if anything...that fiasco helped him stay in the public eye...some will hold it against him...but for most, he will still be a great Olympian...they just now also identify him as "Human"--:smokey:

olympic athletes train from a very young age. some as young as 3 years old.

I'm sure many have smoked weed at some point, and there's got to be a few that smoke for recreational or medicinal purposes..

just don't blaze when you are getting drug tested, you should be good..

good luck with that gold medal

I get what your saying, but he had no control over some douche who released a photo that was probably snapped without his knowledge or consent. So its not like he chose to make it public and I doubt he truly contemplated the risks involved.....he just won how many gold medals? Losing sponsors over taking a hit off the bong was probably the last thing on his mind.

I just pointed out the 3 months because it seems like a stiff punishment until you consider that it might have been no punishment at all(no missed events).

For all we know he could smoke as much as possible while avoiding tests, or even having the tests circumvented. This "punishment" could have simply been a public slap on the wrist to say "drugs are bad" even when taken by an Olympic athlete.
