The Room: 3' x 3' Mylar lined Grow Tent from eBay! The room includes a TAG system that will be fitted with a 30" x 30" screen, (1) 205W LED Grow Light (182W actual power draw), and a CO2 Enrichment System (will turn on 02-07). A water chiller is being installed 02-06 to keep the reservoir temps at a constant 67-72 degrees, and an oxygenation pump will continuously enrich the nutrient solution. CO2 will be run at 1500ppm, the room temp will be maintained between 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity will be maintained between 60-75%. A circulation fan will be installed next week as well to make for sturdier plants.

The TAG System:
SoloGro from Botanicare converted to TAG (true aeroponic gardening) by Hydro-Grow.

TAG is the most advanced form of aeroponics, utilizing high pressure pumps and fine mister/fogger nozzles to create a moisture and oxygen rich environment for explosive root growth. TAG systems generally run on a cycle timer, allowing the misters to turn on for 30-45 seconds, then off for 3-5 minutes depending on the gardener's preference and the number of misting nozzles you have. The cycle repeats continuously, creating a fog like environment inside the grow tray and allowing the roots to dry out partially between watering cycles. TAG systems use far less nutrients and water than other forms of hydroponics, making them the most economical for the gardener. A member on these forums by the name of PetFlora recommended that we build a TAG system several months ago, and provided us with quite a bit of information on the topic. This will be our first grow utilizing this exciting new form of aeroponics, and we hope it lives up to all the claims.

Nutrients: Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Bloom, Bud Candy, Big Bud. We may also get some Bushmaster, Gravity, and PurpleMax as well, but it's currently undecided. We will be sure to post if we do use it

Strains:

LSD
Genetics: Skunk #1 X Mazar
Flowering Time: 8-9 weeks
Yield: 600 gr/m2
Height: 50 - 60 cm
THC Level: 24%
CBD: 1.3%
Indica Dominant

Barneys LSD Feminized is an old Skunk variety crossed with Mazar. - Called LSD by the Barneys Farm crew because of its powerful trippy effect. Developed from ancient genetics long established in the Farm seed bank. Crossing Skunk #1 with a potent Mazar we have created a very powerful Indica strain. Barneys L.S.D. Feminized is a hardy, disease resistant plant that responds well in all grow conditions. With a little care and attention, the L.S.D. strain will give the grower high yielding award winning results. The flavor is an intense earthy chestnut with a sweet musky smell. Barney's Farm LSD produces a euphoric, psychedelic experience. It’s a super-trippy and a highly powerful stone, a Barney’s Farm special.

Alaskan Ice
Genetics : Green House White Widow and Pure Haze
Flowering Time : 9 weeks
Yield: 700-800g/m2
Height : 50-60cm
THC Level : 21.49%
CBD: 1.05%
CBG: 1.78%
Characteristics : Spicy and hazy

One of the highest measured THC. Devastating, Fast Cerebral. It is a cross of original Green House White Widow and Pure Haze. This variation represents a very famous strain, with a new kick. The plants have a structure that is slightly stretchier than the White Widow, with a typical pine-tree shape. The internode is quite stable and averages 12-15 centimeters. The strain has all the well known characteristics of the White Widow, with a much higher THC content and a very sativa-like effect, energizing and very trippy. CBD level is also very high at over 1%, giving it a complete physical effect that follows the first burst of high. Flowering time on this strain is 9 weeks, just one week longer than the original White Widow. The Alaskan Ice is suitable for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse. The plant is quite resistant to botrytis and to pests. In indoor hydro systems the production can reach 700-800 grams per square meter. Outdoor expect production up to 800 grams per plant with fully developed specimens (up to 2,5 meters high and very branchy). The Alaskan Ice can be fed quite a bit, with an EC level up to 2.2 in hydro systems (regular flush required). The taste of the Alaskan Ice is spicy and hazy, with a very well balanced bouquet in between the White Widow and the Haze flavors.

Grower: LEDGirl. This will be my first ScrOG grow ever, and the first time I'll take either of these two strains from start to finish. The strains sounded like excellent candidates, and I hope I made the right choice with them.

ENJOY THE SHOW!

On January 30th, 2010 I received my 3'x3' grow tent and set it up. Seeds had been planted on the 26th, and several had their first root peaking out so I planted them in rapid rooters and put them in their 3" net pots. The day the first two plants had their first set of leaves out, was January 31st. A total of 4 seeds were planted, (2) LSD and (2) Alaskan Ice. In a few weeks we will allow the largest plant from each strain to continue through bloom, and the others will be discarded.

I don't know why there aren't more scrog/lst grows with LEDs to allow equal light penetration to every bud.

I use LST on my 126w led plants to maintain an even canopy of several strains under the same light.

ScrOG is well known for producing even canopies and high yields, and is ideal for LED gardens. As people become more educated and see others having great success with screens, it will certainly drive a shift in how people grow their plants. It simply takes people like you, me, verdant, and others to lead the way.

Likewise though, I don't know why more people aren't using TAG (fog/mist). So far the plants seem to really like it, although the stupid CAP timer keeps malfunctioning which is ANNOYING.

hey this looks good - ill be following :) - seems to be a lot of interest in aeroponics atm

i'd say you are quite brave to run two such different strains on the same screen - it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

My good friend HairlessCaveApe is an aeroponic grower. He uses a homemade setup in ice chests. I lst a lot, but my PM keeps me from scrogging. Maybe when i start burning sulfur. ;)
I hope it works out good, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see.

Other than the CAP timer sometimes not working properly, everything is moving along smoothly. The Alaskan Ice is certainly nowhere near as strong as LSD though (genetics wise). Out of 5 seeds, only 2 Alaskan Ice sprouted (and you're looking at them) whereas 5 out of 5 LSD seeds sprouted very quickly and have all grown vigorously. I don't know if I got a bad batch of seeds from Green House or what, but I'm certainly not impressed with the strain thus far. Depending on how the remainder of veg pans out, we may simply flower the LSD plants.

The door has been closed most of the time, but I do open it probably 10+ times a day right now cause I can't stop staring at them lol. All the CO2 equipment is here now, we just need to fill the tank and get it hooked up. I'll be connecting the ducting from one tent to the other, so we can circulate it through both rooms.

UPDATE: The C.A.P. "ART-DNE" timers will be returned this upcoming week. I mean C.A.P. no disrespect, but these things are not reliable and I don't recommend them to ANYONE if you want ALIVE plants. I don't understand what the problem is with these stupid things (tried two thinking one might be faulty), but I come out of my bedroom this morning, sit in a chair and listen for 7+ minutes (timer is set to 5 off, 45 seconds on), and amazingly it decided not to turn the pump on again! To be KIND, I've only had to re-start the timer 2x a day since it's been plugged in due to malfunction (deciding it's not going to turn the pump on at the right interval, or leaving it on and never turning it off), but honestly it's probably been 3-5x a day. If I weren't here resetting this timer, that's only job is to go on every 5 minutes for 45 seconds, my plants would be DEAD. I'll be calling around next week to order some new timers, probably from Sentinel.

Both LSD plants are really taking off, but the Alaskan Ice plants are a bit odd looking. As stated before I didn't get a very good batch of seeds from Greenhouse, but still these plants should be stronger than what I'm seeing (in my opinion). Every LSD plant I've had has taken off like these are, so to anyone looking for a great strain I highly recommend it. I doubt very highly that I'll end up blooming either Alaskan Ice plant, but I'll still let them veg out for at least the next week or so.

when you start with the co2,what sort of venting strategy are you going to use with the multiple tent set up?Given the need keep temps up in the tent(seems odd to say that after doing things the old way) but still share the co2,will you just use a small fan on constantly,or use a timer on a larger fan?

These tents have 3 ventilation holes in them, 2 up top for a HID hood, and another one on the bottom. Since CO2 is heavy and tends to sink, we will be releasing it from the top of the 4x4 tent and running ducting from the bottom vent hole to a top vent hole on our 3x3 tent. The ducting will have a small 4" fan from Home Depot, just to keep air moving. Likewise, the bottom hole from the 3x3 tent will be ducted to the top hole on the 4x4 tent, also with a small inline fan. The 3rd hole on each tent will be sealed, as well as all "venting" slots they left around the bottom of the tent. Both rooms will become a sealed environment with CO2 enrichment soon, but not just yet. I've never really used CO2 in veg a whole lot...

those were my thoughts on set up of a multi tent setup as well.It seemed to me that even a 90cfm fan would be overkill for what was needed, and indeed might inadvertently over cool the system.Maybe in a say 4 tent set up would something as large as a 90cfm be needed, and it might be enough to keep flow going through all the tents.I've never used CO2 in veg before either,I wonder if the combination of the LED spectrum plus CO2 in veg would bring about a structure change in the plants themselves,ie they would develop stomata to take advantage of the enhanced CO2 levels before entering flower allowing a super smooth transition between veg and flower.

Co2 in veg rocks... I do it all the time and they love it. it will help you get to the 10 to 12 inches for flower alot quicker if you use that technique. Watch them grow.
