i have been taking clones off my supersilverhaze mother plant and have had great luck soo far.i have filled up my cloner now four times and have had lots of clones for friends. now my question is how many times can i take clones from the same mother? i have been told now that i have taken four rounds that she is not going to give me "quality clones"anymore. is this true? she has been so good to me and she is looking ready to take more clones but if they arent going to work i need to start another momma plant! HELP:dunno:

I had my jorge cervantes grow bible next to me and i looked-some of you more experienced folks may correct me-but i think you can keep that plant until the second coming of Christ and it's gonna give you good clones as long as she's healthy. Remember, you can take one of those clones and make a new mother, too!

Yep. I've heard it's a good idea to take many clones, and the most robust one during veg should be used as the next mother, if that's what you want.

yea. the amount of cloning doesnt effect the out come of the clone.
yes, you can clone till the second coming of christ.
so, you can clone forever. clone clones. mother a clone. whatever.

I think after the second coming of Christ you should just go to the Man himself...he'll set everything straight. =)

26 years with one specific strain for me.

The originators of rooting a cutting were in China around 3,500 year ago. In some of the texts from that era dealing with agriculture they discuss plants being 50+ years old or more.

It was the Chinese that first invented what pot growers like to call SOG. Whore? Hey! Cervantes never quite figured that one out either.

the quality of the clones will always be the same genetically speaking. keep using the same mom unless you find that growing out a new one is easier for some reason.

Good to see you back, Clackamas.
Wow, you've kept a strain for 26 years? What about that strain has made you not phase it out after so many years? Must be a strain that is all around perfect for you...

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?? The world may never know

Clackamas, I'm n the area what's the strain called? I know shantibabas had one for 16 years and a few others for longer. Have u had the same plant for 26 years or have u phased clones into mothers when the mamas got too big?

Medicinal value - nothing more. Old genetics from the 'old days' prior to the Dutch invasion in the early 1980's. Not that this means anything in the whole scheme of things. But that's the deal for me.

Peace

Thanks!

from what I know (please take this with a grain of salt), there are cases of plants living for years and years and years, but something along the lines of 1.6 years is about the longest you want to shoot for. Supposedly one would have better luck piggybacking clones (take a clone from the mom, flower the mom, make new clone a new mom, etc.), however, I have not exactly sat down and tested this out.

It's called whatever what someones want to call it - how about 'Canadian Butt Hairs' for example. Strain names means absolutely NOTHING to me because of the games played up an down the West Coast.

For a history of cannabis genetics do a search for the term BOEL Orange County.

I've been growing cannabis since 1976 in southern California. Been growing under HID since 1988.

From reading your posting it would appear that perhaps you've been reading Whore? Hey! Cervantes - but I could be wrong.

Okay correct me if I'm wrong here but does it not depend on how well you keep the mom and the strain itself? Also can the strain not get what is called tired syndrome after about 2 years? Not saying this is always the case but I know for sure they are taking clones off this mom and she has no potency in her or atleast not what she had 10 years ago but they keep cloning lol. Then theres the cloning from clones lol..I know there are ppl that keep mom for 30 years and say they see no difference but I have seen a huge difference in the strains they are tring to sell lol lol.. peace out Headband707

Correct - up to a point. Healthy plants produce healthy cuttings - it's really that simple.

Grow using mineral salts results in stressed out mother plants which result in marginal cuttings.

YMMV
