The only way I've noticed a problem before it happens is flickering or interruptions of light and weird higher frequency sounds being emitted. Not everyone notices these frequencies though.
The problems seem to happen raandomly though. \
Maybe I just bought the toyota brand cfl's!

I was very pro cfl. We switched em all out everywhere.
I couldnt convnce a few friends. They said they didnt trust them.
I agree with them now. I dont trust or approve of cfl lighting anymore.
I have made the effort to buy top quality cfl's by the case usually and had way to many cfl's shit out way too soon. So much for savings over time!
Well I have had a few stat pulsing then humming, weird sorts of shit from the ballast basically.
I watched a cfl overhead start to pulse abit yesterday. It died a bit later. I took it out and this is the cfl. Notice the writing at the bottom right? Yeah, Hg. Going back to incandescent unhttp://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=10215&pictureid=295909 til led is affordable for home lighting.
I've seen lots of pics of people with oodles of cfl's in their cab or tent or room. I ask my friends to be cautious.

OK so if a # of us at least have these in all our fixtures through our places I am curious if any of you feel like you are replacing your cfl's too often.
For that very reason I began buying the cfl's in cases from reputable mfctr's. None of those have had good track records either.
I'll keep some in areas I only use the light when present in the room but for unattended lighting I'm phasing them out.
I feel like a dork talking about it but a fire will really fuckover a persons day so might as well.

I keep fire extinguishers in my house and grow room,better a few hours of cleaning than lots of "awkward" questions,i also live like a monk aside from the grow...

i do! you think thats bad ive just been smoking some lowryder 2 f4 (its actually really nice santa maria pheno honest) that is fully seeded, and it is a bitch to make a spliff because i left it with the males 2 weeks to long so i got little tiny fuckin pips trying to invade all my spliffs
