Drop in Flowering Time on the Same Cuts... hmmm

Have any of you had a significant drop in flowering time when running clones?

Ran clones under a 250 hps and they ran 60 days and were good. This time the same cuts ran under a 400 cmh and ran for 50 days. I find this to be odd.

Is this a CMH thing or a higher wattage thing? Or is it just that better results are had when you get more familiar with cuts?

Thanks.

what up Stoney! Yah I pretty much know all about CMH I was reading that thread from it's start. even had LONG conversations with Simba on the phone! lol...

Ive read that CMH can bring out colors in the plants but not that it can lower flower times.

how did you determine your flowering time? Did you use a magnifying glass to look at the trichomes? A CMH provides a more complete spectrum if Im not mistaken...that will influence your plants, but I suspect your determination of flowering times was simply a personal judgement thing.

Maturity, or age in a gal can do this, tuning in helps, more light helps, I still run em 70 days.

Thanks guys!

Darksith; Trichomes all the time. They get taken down right as they begin to go amber. Just a few found on each plant will get them cut. This started happening a whole ten days early... feel something was done wrong.

Haps; what up man! never thought of this. they were clones of a young mother the first time. The second run was the same mother just 10wks older.

Things to think about!

When clones from clones are taken from seed moms they can progress from the mom. The same can happen taking cuts from the same seed mom, once she gets older. The cuts have differing flower times and can even take on different smells and tastes. I suspected this for some time, but learned first hand with Visioncreators Chocotrip x TFD Thai aka Galactic Beaver Dominator. Vapor and I picked the GBD from 4 seed moms because it most reminded us of thai in the smell/taste departments. The cuts took on a slightly different smell and taste as mom matured. Even grown in the same conditions in the same garden. On another note, man I wish we would have kept #3 too what a rippin buzz that was. Peace GS

Godless

I have a KaliMist girl that I took cuts 3 months after popping the seed. These cuts took 3.5 weeks of being in 12/12 to start spitting pistils and they stretched like crazy. The latest batch of cuts are acting TOTALLY different. They started spitting pistils in a couple days - the same time as my 55 day powerplant. They have also failed to stretch as expected which totally screwed up my plan to run them vert by making them wrap around a wire cage that circles a cooltube. I still have the damn reflector in the cooltube as the plants haven't stretched past the first half of the circle. Now, does this mean that these latest KM cuts won't take 100 days like the last batch? I dunno, but I am suspecting that it will be somewhat less.

Anyway, my thought is that the actual age of the cut has some significance to the way it reacts to the photo period change. I also have a pet theory that the older the clone thinks it is, the longer/better the high. Obviously, we are talking about subtle differences here.

just thinking out aloud really...

i remember one particular cut of ojd's sssdh

i stressed the bitch to fuck, had the lights turn off all barr 1 during veg (to keep the temp's up), starved the bitch, and kept her over watered

she finished earlier, and produced some lovely long dank as ferck colas, which were nice and dense. stunk to high heaven as well.

microscope out for colour.

the difference from the one tent to the other was very large

i have done this with another strain, but that one didnt reward me so well :dunno:

some plants react differently to food. supposedly they grow faster and produce more if underfed, but dont look so dark green.

temps were with in the same range. From enclosed hood for 250 and aircooled for 400 and able to get right under the glass before feeling heat.

Godless and V1 those are some good stories to take into consideration.

V1; what did you mean by "microscope out of colour"
