Prop 215 Housing in Humboldt, CA

I'm having a difficult time finding prop 215 compliant housing in Humboldt County. I've browsed through a lot of Craigslist ads, but so far I've only found a few that say they are prop 215 friendly, many of them specifically say "NO Growing" or "Not 215 friendly". I have found one website that works with Prop 215 housing, but I have yet to buy a membership to their site because I'm a little worried.

I would really like to find a 2 bedroom apartment, somewhere in Humboldt, and ideally less than 1500 a month.

I'd be willing to do a lease to own option, but I can't find any of those either.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I read the forum guidelines and it seemed okay.

holy shit i'm glad i don't live in humboldt, must be so many motherfuckers moving up there not knowing a damn thing, driving up the price of housing and blowing up the scene for all the local growers.

oh wait, sounds kind of like SC

my advice^^^ stay where you are and grow your weed.. if you absolutely have to move to humboldt, just get a place and don't tell the landlord you're growing.

remember, landlords, police, and thieves DONT care if you're legal... prop 215 will not help you find a house to grow in, it will just keep you out of jail.

You don't want to grow in an apartment.

Why do you assume I don't know what I'm doing?

Humboldt has some of the best growing regs in all of California. The recent state Supreme Court decision has changed that a little, but I prefer to grow in an area where I'm following state law.

Police do care if you are legal. Some landlords do too. Thieves I'm not really concerned about.

It doesn't have to be an apartment, but it can be. I'm looking for housing, it could be a rental home or an apartment. I'm going to be well within county limits so an apartment will provide all the space I need.

I don't need a perfect grow house. I need a place to live where the landlord is prop 215 compliant. If I'm not braking any laws I can't be arrested, but I could be evicted. I don't want to be lose my security deposit and be homeless.

What does it matter if the market is saturated in Humboldt anyway? There is more than enough demand in the state of California.

Hey, i'm not against your idea / plan, i'm just curious about y you to move to HB. The sad fact remains that NorCal is getting FAR less compensation for meds than any other area in the country for PERFECTLY grown kind. I happen to know a handful of growers in NorCal that are working to move South (or East) because, i quote "i could run the half the watts."

Good Luck. To get back to your original question. I thinking looking for a landlord / owner to specifically say prop 215 friendly will be tough b/c that opens them up to a market of mmj ops and potential legal issues where removing that sentence still maintains the marketablity minus the (potential) bs they have to deal with...

Because you have to get used to idea that no one actually in Humboldt County needs what you're providing. They've already got connections to product, or are growing themselves. You will have to travel great distances from there to unload product. You'd be better off moving somewhere in Cali where the demand is greater than the supply, like (possibly) the Bay Area or Los Angeles County. You do know that Humboldt is a loooooong way from anything, don't you? If you don't mind driving twelve hours to L.A. to unload your product, then by all means, go to Humboldt.

Thieves are something you very much need to be concerned about, because home invasions are up, especially in Mendocino County--and nearly all of them are against grow houses. I'm fortunate to live in an unsaturated market in California, where I don't have to worry about that. But then, I grow for myself--not for the med scene. I considered moving to Humbolt once, but it has become the wild west of the grow scene--and too many shady dealers have popped-up. Eureka, which used to be a great town, now needs to shake the "Eur-tweek-a" image it has developed.

I many ways, a really smart, clandestine grower who does it right would be better off in a place where laws are a bit more draconian. You could charge whatever you wanted in a place like Nebraska or Utah, because the demand is far, far bigger than the supply in those places. It's just economics. The Emerald Triangle is not what you think it is. It never was. Think it over, and talk to as many people who are actually there as you can before you decide anything.

good luck

mmm how do i put this....the boldt is well, more than saturated and its sown up tight... next to impossible to get rid of anything(or even find the spot to do it) and if you do, dont count on it paying the bills...to the rest of the world, the boldt is in bfe and you have to drive through gauntlets to get there/out...there are many more places where you can do your thing in cali and would probly be much more successful. id say if you arent already established there, you stand little to no chance of survival(in the game) just trying to jump right in....the boldt is for the biggest of boys and they certainly are doing it real big, puts a lot of little folk out of work in a hurrry.

It DOES matter. And as for Demand.... Read on... Sorry, not true....

Thieves are a threat. You see people over 40 riding bicycles through the neighborhoods. Definitely Casing out homes.. Watching who leaves and when.

There is a Learning Curve to growing quality Pot, as well. A very costly one. Most growers in NorCal are not producing good quality Medicine. The amount of schwag is high, the prices dastardly low. Buds get routinely pulled early, and are sujected to diseases and pests.

Col Bat Guano has a handle on the situation... If one is gonna have to be Low-key anyways, it is best to do it somewhere where there is still demand. Bay Area ain;t so great either... LA is a pain in the Buttocks to deal with. The Club Purchasing agents just wanna make you wait for 1-2 days, and Broker your weed, so they can make a quick bundle of cash. Medical..? Means not that much in LA anymore.

Maybe 10% of the people who come up to these VERY CLIQUE-ISH areas actually stay.

I cannot wait to leave.... The Vibe is Crappy these days... Many people are leaving. Cannabis People and non....Years can pass, and the world moves on. NOTHING happens in Norcal. The Scene between the Sexes rather poor. The desperate people and the TWEAKERS are going to be an increasing threat, when the economy gets even worse, and hyper-inflation kicks in.

If you want to see who you will be competing with, check out humboltlocal's outdoor grow last year, hell, he probably harvested around 200lbs last year or more with too many strains to think about listing.

I live in a state with draconian laws and I sure as hell aint thinking about moving to humbolt or anywhere in cali for that matter, its too expensive to live there for me, too much competition too.

Definitely hearing a lot of chatter around humboldt about people moving to colorado for all of the reasons listed above. Humboldt is a great place to buy weed, but high pg&e bills, costly housing can definitely weed out an amateur quick. I bet the prices around the country are going to drop down to canadian prices in the next couple of years. Humboldt could very well be obsolete after that, the economy here is completely dependent on the black market.

The black market premium is certainly going to drive prices up, but it isn't what I'm after. I don't want the fear of police and prison.

I agree with you regarding land lords. I have begun looking for a lease to own, or a low cost house. I found some modular homes for 50K and under. I have enough money saved up to put down a 10 or 20% down payment and still have plenty left over.

Humboldt County is a big county, but it is my understanding that a trip to the Bay area will be somewhere between five and a half to a seven hour trip. That commute sounds reasonable to me, especially if I only have to make the trip once every 5 weeks or so.

I also read on NORML that there are airlines in Cali that cater to medicinal patients, and as long as you fly in state you aren't breaking any laws.

Certainly I worry about home invasions, but I'm going to live at my property, not just have a living area and a seperate grow house. I will make sure that all of my exhaust is carbon scrubbed and releases no scent.

Depending on the house I'll be bringing in some large dogs to help with the problem as well.
