Michigan senate wants to ban personal growing for paitents.

This is the federal governments backup plan to make it unavailable to patients. Just like the stamp act. You can't get tax stamps to legally possess marijuana and no pharmacy is gonna carry marijuana. From what I understood it will be regular pharmacies not dispensaries. Damn feds!

Jobo welcome to IC Mag..my best wishes to those of you in Michigan if this goes through. I have to wonder how leaders there in your state, could ignore the compasion being displayed in other states, and go so far against the grain and movement nation wide for patients to be allowed to grow. It's just a plant! Good luck Bro..DD

As it stands, people who want to use marijuana for medical reasons are allowed to grow up to 12 marijuana plants per patient and be in possession of up to 2.5 ounces. Big pharm will not succeed in getting the 3/4 vote to over ride the current legislation.

What is going on with this right now... any Lansing insiders care to shed light on this gray subject?

This is a union state.

The mmj community is pretty much a union here.

We took this law from them. We intend to keep it.

They have tried to water down the law many times. And failed every time they tried.

Grand Rapids is not MJ friendly. They just passed a moritorium You need like 5 Inspectors to come check your grow room. City licensing fees like 2000 bones a year. Just a bad spot.

The MMJ in MI isn't a force to be reckond with, it is a strong formidable movment. They would need to pry it from our cold dead hands. Cheesy stolen quote but works all the same!

I don't live in MI but here are Senate Bills 616-618. Basically it looks like the state of MI wants to change Cannabis to Schedule II, then try to let the pharmacies sell it. MI wants to maximize potential revenue from mmj, before they pocket the loot. But if they need 75% to overturn the referendum, I'd say their chances are next to zilch. Never trust the sneaky bastards though.

They will never pass this with the 75% needed, it's political suicide to go against the will of the people.

We do have lots of city counsels making moratoriums and local ordinances that appear to supersede state law which isn't legal.

The DEA actually had a meeting here and told the city counsels to attack the medical marijuana law on a local front. We are dealing with the aftermath of that meeting and will be fighting city ordinances for a long time to come.

Legalization or at least decriminalization is our next move. We are trying to pass decrim in the City of Detroit, collecting signatures right now. This appears to be the best way to fight back outside of running our own candidates which we are also working on.

Feel free to write sengvanwoerkom@senate.michigan.gov and let him know you don't appreciate his attempt to over ride the will of the people through this legislation. You might want to mention how this is anti free market and nothing more than protectionism for the drug companies. (He is a teabagging Republican who's career was a Christian educator.)
