Fox Farm Soil Mixes...

I have been using fox farm ocean forrest for a while and last grow I mixed it in with happy frog to make it go a little further. Now, the only soils I have access to are the fox farm soils or promix, that is it. I am curious if any of you guys have played around with the fox farm soils to get better results or taste or if maybe I should just use straight promix. Any input would be appreciated.

Lots of people here sware by the Fox Farm soils. The Tomato blend, Organic Fert mix as well. If you can't find a good mix that you want specifically it's been said that Meds and Tomatoe's grow very similar so any soil advertised for tomatoes will work just fine for meds.\

Hope that helps.

I use the fox farm soils in a couple ways.

I originally used FFOF and FFLW mixed 50/50 and used PBP starting about 1/4 of the instructions.

Now I'm using FFOF and FFLW at like 5 parts each
1 part additional perlite
2 parts EWC
2 Tbsp dolomite lime/gal of soil

and I use the guano/kelp teas per instructions (minus the liquid karma) on the organics for beginners thread. Its like recipe three I think.

Although I dont think BurnOne recommends it, this method has proved to work quite well for me.

1 bag ocean forest
1 bag light warrior
1 bag FF planting mix
7-8 tbls lime
that combo right there with give you EXPLOSIVE growth.

I'v tried OF by it self, I've tried it cut with LW, nothing beats the 3 mixed together. I have to do little more than water my plants and they are perfectly green and happy, not a messed up leaf in sight.

With the mix you just described, should I adjust my fert levels? I am using almost the whole Humboldt organic line. I appreciate all the help also. I have had awsome grows but always look to get better.

I am currently using FF (hydro) for my first indoor, great stuff so far. I'm looking to follow some of you for my Summer outdoor via the soil ferts. And advice, feel free. Thanks.

I just dont feed for the first 2-3 weeks after transplant, then I just hit them with a medium strength guano/kelp/ewc tea once a week starting at wk 4. Theyre on week 5 now and have only been hit with tea twice, so far they perfectly healthy and havent needed much work. Im using that mix this grow and have everything from hindu kush to original haze x skunk all recieving the same mix all looking awesome.

Im not familiar with the humboldt organic line, you'd just have to compare that to my tea, im sure they have the same basic ingredients.

the soil mix is pretty expensive but so far this is the easiest grow i've ever done, plants are growing like crazy and root 3 gallon pots in a couple of days. i was also able to veg for 30 days, and sex my plants all in 4" sq pots, the soil is very light and roots grow thick and tight and solid like a sponge

Just use Promix or Sunshine Mix#4 - You can control so many more variables.

i really liked pro-mix cos i could control more variables.. But i cannot get it here anymore, so i switched back to FOX FARMS.. I will start with happy frog then mix FFOF with the FFLW as mentioned above and then try the FFOF, FFLW and FFHF and see how that works out as well.. I will keep ya's imformed when i can remember lol.. peace..

I messed around with the FF line up a few years ago. Ran it straight and had some minor problems. Mostly with PH and micro and macro deficiencies. I even amended it. LOL that was the OF. Now the LW is just peat and mycorrhizal fungi . Right?

But I found that when I cycled it its performance was 100 times better. It becomes almost too rich then for some plants.

FF has all the components but I think it works best cycled or atleast composted with ACT for a few months first.
