Can you crack the pollen sac real early?

Trying to learn everything before I delve into things and something that I couldn't find an answer to was what's the earliest a Pollen Sac can be popped to spread pollen?

I know you can wait until they open or even manually open them once they are bigger, but how small can they be?

Once you see them forming barely, can you open them? Never having done this, I guess I need to know if you can see the pollen in there and does that mean it is ready?

Like it's born ready. hehehe!

Wow, I make the questions confusing...here they are simpler. :)

1. What is the EARLIEST to harvest pollen from a sac?

2. If you open a sac (no matter how small or big) and see pollen inside, is it ready?

Thanks!!!

You need to let nature take its coarse.

1. When the first pollen sac opens, and releases pollen.

2. No. Opening immature pollen sacks will reveal immature pollen.

If you are in a hurry and want to dispose of a flowering male plant ,, but retain the pollen,, simply chop off a flowering branch and place it into a cup of water. The male flowers will open a few days later and release viable pollen.

This is a good way of studying individual male flowers as they reach maturity.

All the best
