Simple Teas

Hey Guys, Im trying to get into organics, my current grow is mostly organic but next grow i dont want to use any bottled ferts on my grow just plain ammendment with LC mix #1 with some teas when needed.

After searching I can't seem to find how to make a tea without a bubbling system. I Know aerating the tea makes it way more effective but im in a stealth grow with no room for any bubbler system.

I seem to remember disolving guanos into warm water, and then adding that to the main gallon jug of water and then shaking that vigourously and using that. Will this work? I just can't find anything that doesnt talk about aerating anymore. Will this be all good? Thanks a ton.

think oxygen is necessary for the micro- organisms to survive and multiply.....:dunno:

where i aerate tea takes no space at all. it doesn't need to be with your grow.... just needs to sit and bubble for two or three days.....

if you cant aerate teas. then forget about them....concentrate on soil amendments and top dressings and simply watering with water.

ok thanks, i just thought there was a simple way to make teas like they used to before aerating. I just like to keep it simple to start. I guess top dressing would be the best way to keep it real simple.

Listen to JayKush, he's totally right on this. You can trust him, he's a moderator! :)

There are too many other things you could be brewing up that you don't want if you're not getting sufficient aeration.

How stealthy is this grow? Can you handle electricity or enough noise for the sound of water bubbling. Or, just bubble the tea in your apt./house and then take it to your plants. You have 4 hours from the time you shut off the motor to get the tea onto your plants.

how about a direct extraction instead of a brew? You drop a bunch of compost in water, stir vigorously, and pour. Works great for me.

aerators may work great, but i've had quite good results with simple shaking
just pop the top twice a day, and give it a good shake for 2-3 minutes
brewed alfalfa teas and bone meal teas, only nutrient i've used so implies the tea has brewed well

top dress or mix some water with compost and use immediately
i wouldnt advice to ferment compost but alfalfa has worked well when fermenting(stinks like no other) and personally i wouldnt mix bone meal with water...amend or top dress is better for me

:yeahthats

I personally make a tea, but my air pump is wayy loud, and I am trying to muffle it somehow so I can brew more often.
If a pump is out of the question then that's that. Listen to jk and madlib. Good soil amendments, and some compost slurry will go a long way.

i learned about bone meal tea on this site, it's pretty remarkable
if you don't like the smell of alfalfa tea, bone meal takes it up a notch in smell
it does take time, weeks not days
but strangely it seems to stabilize over time, funky odor goes does a bit after 4 weeks which is as far as i've taken it
mg organic bone meal has a 6-9-0 ratio according to its label, used this tea and nothing else on a good grow

if my plants need some feed/water and I dont have time to make the tea I simply top dress with the desired amendments mixed with compost and ewc. Call it a nutrient compost top dressing. It seems to yield better results than top dressing alone but if i can I still make the tea.
