Chem DD, Williams Wonder and F-13 with a side of SSH and an OTM too

just finished pull #3...that 25 mic bag is draining faster this time...but the yield is still good and I have another 20lbs of ice and a lot of free time so screw it lets pull again. I'll keep going until I'm not getting anything back, for real.
I'm keeping all of the sizes/pulls separate on my drying sheet so that I can give a nice lineup photo and post some quantities. Although I don't know how useful they'll be, since I didn't weigh my trim. But I can say it was about a freezer bag and a half. I'm not mixing as hard any more between pulls, I don't want to brutalize this stuff as much any more with the paint mixer. But it sure is fun to see just how much good smoke I can pull out of what is essentially a waste product...waste not want not.

sorry...I fell asleep while I was letting pull #6 sit for a minute. Just pulled the bags, still got something this round. But really, now this is getting silly so that will be my last for this batch of trim. I think I got an acceptable yield. I'll weigh it when it's closer to dry.
Those Chem cuts I just took....eh....still diving. But still alive. I think they need a watering so I'm going to try that. They are all off to the side of my smaller HPS light, not directly under but off to the side. The C99s and the OTMs I just took are still holding up better than I had expected and it looks like the SSHs are maybe sort of there. Time will tell.

here we go

here we go

first the clones I bubbled
These are smaller, rooted clones.
Three F-13 girls. One OTM and a couple Chem DDs and a couple I forget what, to identify when they grow out a bit. Either CDD or Willies.
I think you can tell which are F-13 pretty easily. The OTM is a lil runt here, because that was the cut I took to save the broken branch on my mom.

step by step cloning of C99, OTM, SSH and more Chem DD straight in to coco

step by step cloning of C99, OTM, SSH and more Chem DD straight in to coco

Ok. So I promised this a while ago and now I will deliver.

We start by taking an 18oz beer cup and drilling some drain holes in the bottom. Then I filled it with coco I rinsed with a 50/50 veg nute solution.

I take a cut of what I'm cloning about 8-9" long. C99 grapefruit for example here. Cut the bottom two nodes of with a clean razor, submerge it in a cup of water and take another swipe at it on a 45 degree angle before slathering it in rootech gel over everything I cut. Then I take the nonbusiness end of a drill bit a little larger in diameter than the cut and put a 6" hole through the coir in the beercup. Mist that cutting with some water I mixed up a blob of rooting gel in, stick it balls deep in the beercup and set it off to the side of my veg lights on a shelf.

OTM clone in a cup check out those nice fat leaves this mom is raging healthy :)

Now here is a thing to know. I did those a couple days ago, first off. The C99 and the OTM are straight up not very droopy. One of the SSH's is vertical, seeing some droop. All the CDD is diving.
But my boy who gave me the moms and the technique, he tells me to expect that. He said, in fact, when he clones CDD, it droops for up to 2 straight weeks but not to give up. So here's praying for that. He's a goddamn wizard about this stuff though so I trust his judgment.

Now the icehash adventure

Now the icehash adventure

My Sprung bags came so I made some nice ice hash this weekend. Here is how that went. Total yield was about 7grams from a freezer bag and a half of haze trim I've been saving up. I did 7 pulls total and used 40 lbs of ice.
Here's my procedure.

I want these bags to last for me so I'm not working in the work bag. I put my trim in a 5 gal bucket with a lot of ice, cover it with water. I hit it with a paint mixer hooked up to a drill (don't bother with a cordless drill you'll be burning batteries constantly but I think any idiot would figure that one out fast).

Then I pour it through my bags which are set up in another 5gal bucket. I do this in the tub. The 25 mic screen takes forever to run the first few pulls so I hang it off the shower head

I have it sorted by pull and screen size on the pressing screen. After it dries a bit I pulled out some of the stuff from the 25u bag for my head and mash the rest together for my friends. Then I go out and spread some love around. All in all a very satisfying six hours of manual labor.

So see, I do eventually deliver. Next episode, look forward to some beautiful finished haze from my last project. And hopefully some nice roots on some fat clones. Slainte! :smokeit:

thanks Balance. they're all courtesy of a very good friend who gifted them to me to help me survive unemployment. another ICmagger I might add. this site is a lifesaver.
the collection is still improving...I'm picking up a clone of some original Chemdawg off of him in the near future...not sure if it's the '91 or the original D but he says he got it from the man himself and he hasn't steered me wrong yet...I can't wait to get my hands on that one :)

planning something out...looking for new gear, want to start accumulating stuff for a new project...stumbled across this...
I like my hortilux, but it looks like sunlux is the same thing... and at $224 for 6! I'm looking for somewhere around here to get some shipped...coooool!
check this out
http://www.businesslights.com/1000w-hps-eye-sunlux-epa-compliant-lamp-6pack-p-374.html
tell me what you think
they have all kinds of other wattages, MH, etc.
fancy that. eye quality, cheapo price. apparently its just a rebranded hortilux and I've seen a few pieces of information to support that assertion...light distribution charts and par wattages etc, on icmag in the forums and elsewhere. i can afford another ballast with the money saved buying these lights. and still have more than what i need.
i know it's off topic
i couldn't sleep and i am always looking for ways to get more for my money this growing thing can be an expensive passion if you aren't careful or do your homework...i have big plans for 2010 :) and i'm building up the confidence to execute them every day
tonight i think i'm chopping some haze from my last batch of genetics (stuff from my old thread), pics to follow. and i have some of my personal cross of somango x williams wonder from that last run as well that are about 20 something days in to flower and they are looking nice so i'll post a bit of a throw back and show some shots of those girls as well. some haze at 20 days also. i finally get those strains dialed in and now i'm not running them for the foreseeable future. change is good.
another one of my williams wonder clones is showing roots now in the bubbler. that makes two of them so far. I'm going to let them grow out a bit in there and transplant in a day or two I really want to clear that bubbler out.

hey...been busy the last week with a lot of stuff...cutting down, trimming some haze, my buddy had some outdoor from last season that came my direction as well...
the F-13 I bubbled is doing nice and so is the OTM and one of the Chem DDs... bad run of the bubbler this time but I kind of expected it with the cold and my personal heat problem which slowed me down pretty bad...the clones I took straight in coco last week though are rocking so I'm going to be fine in that regard. C99 is a champ at going straight in to coco as is OTM I find. My SSH and ChemDD are perking up just as my buddy said would occur, I think I may lose one out of 15 of those clones, so I'm gonna feel a lot more confident with that method in the future. Going to pack my bubbler with F-13 tonight since it liked it so much and the rest I'm going to put straight in coco my moms need another haircut.
I like to cook too. I made some sushi for a friend last night, Northern Cal rolls...lol. It's lump crap soaked in sesame oil infused with a couple grams of my haze, inside out with avocado and covered in masago.
Tasty.

The F13 I bubbled is actually doing the best right now...so I'm thinking of filling the bubbler back up this afternoon with my haze, F13, some C99 and some Pomello or Apollo mist. Stuff I now have determined will root well under my conditions...I have a new addition coming very soon need to start cranking out some babies... :) Have one more set of bills to take care of this week then it's time to start stockpiling equipment...so far thinking about two Lumatek adjustable ballasts, a case of Sunlux bulbs (I know about them with digis but I have personally seen them run just fine with Lumateks so I'm gonna try it anyway), a nonpoisonous 4x8 hydrohut, 2 Hydrofarm Radiant 8 hoods (3 actually I wanna ditch the DaystarAC I'm using currently in my 1k flower room) and a fan/can combo from businesslights.com (cheaper fan than a vortex and cheaper can than my hydroguy has). Neighbor friend electrician helping me add wiring to my area to handle the load and timing provided by Intermatic. I want to get something really fun set up by summer I need to crank out some chronic to keep up with my habit once I start blazing again next week it's going to take a lot for me to put down the nicotine again lol :) :) :)
Going to be a slow process of acquisition and preparation for now but I'm thinking by the time I have everything I need I'll be ready to start running it immediately which is what needs to happen.

Fricken shweet! Good luck with the cigs! I'm on day 38 right now...it gets better(providing you can puff instead).
Apollo Mist is so tasty! Many would disagree but I like it the most out of all Rez crosses I've tried. Beautiful buds and sooo tasty

thanks!
I'll have another update tonight in all likelihood those F-13s are really taking off now under the MH. And all of the OTM I cloned straight in to coco, well, thick white roots are wrapping the inside of the cups so I'm going to move them up in to 4" pots as soon as I get back with my coffee. The C99 is being weird it is holding up but now it's droopy, I have a feeling it is rooting now and just getting more thirsty. So, a good watering and then right under the MH with the other clones. It looks like I'll have the first batch of clones on 12/12 pretty soon. In the mean time I'm going to pick up some more gel and cut some more OTM since it is such an all star around here :) still didn't clean that bubbler but rest assured I will. Got caught up watching a certain addictive sci fi series and inadvertently landed on my friends' couch for the night, ha. Coffee. Back to work.

Oh yes I kind of tweaked the H3ad formula around a bit on some stuff I'm working on...extra week of N at the beginning, 1 week less flush at the end, heavier hits of liquid KB. Last time I did it with a single haze plant among another batch of haze I ran straight up the recipe...got some MUCH bigger calyxes and nobody bitched about any chemness, burned down to a fine white ash as they say and I had an above average (for me anyway) yield this time...fun stuff. I want that radiant 8 asap though the daystar AC sucks for spreading light around my space and I feel like as long as it is in there I'm cheating myself out of lower growth because I have to cram so much stuff under one hood to get nice tops.

sooo...my second worst nightmare (as in not the worst but definitely horrible) is happening tomorrow am...i will get in to it after i survive it...and i will survive it, i'm pretty fuckin good at beating odds...and the odds here are largely in my favor because i planned for this for months ahead of time. all the same, cross your fingers for me guys...this is going to be a stressful sleepless night i am sure...i just can't wait for it to be over. all i'm saying is i'm glad my set up breaks down real fast real easily because we're going to see just how fast it can break down tonight. god damn i really wish i could smoke right now. really, really i wish i could smoke right now.
i guess i gotta buy some more reflective sheeting because that shit is all coming down first and getting scrapped i don't see how i can save that. anyone run without the stuff? i don't know if i'm going to bother hanging it again, my walls are nice and white. thinking i may wait a few months on that 2k setup...the stars are a little funny for me here right now and i may need to do this again a couple of times until i ride out this mess...

well, i have some pictures of my excellent david blaine act. you could walk in here right now and have no idea that you are surrounded by parts of a broken down op, but by 9pm, it's going to be blown out again in time for me to go bowling with my cute neighbor friend :)
so you can take that as I pulled it off. i'll post some before and after shots...the only real loss so far is the reflective sheeting from the walls in my flower room and i still have half a roll of that it was the shitty cheap stuff anyway.
uhaul wardrobe boxes and 55 gallon drum liners will save your life. as will good camouflage. would you want to go ripping in to boxes of my contaminated environmental field sampling equipment and clothes from chemical plant dockwork and asbestos abatement work? oh yeah i know a lot of people here are anti gun but leave a 9mm lying on top of one of those boxes and between the 9 and the word 'asbestos' thats the last room anyone is gonna want to spend time poking around in.
add in a hyperactive young pitbull puppy running free and freshly bathed and mop the floors with a 50% bleach solution (glad i still have chem cartridges in my respirator ha ha ha ha) and you have a situation nobody is going to want to stick around in.
clones are just boxed and stuffed wherever i could find room and well...i'll show you some pics of flower and you will get the idea.
now i gotta put everything back together so i can go bowling. and get really really drunk.
i just hope the moms arent half dead when i pull them out of the bags/boxes they have been suffering in for 12 hours

Matte white paint is actually pretty good as a reflective surface... problem is that most interiors are painted in a bit of an off-white, even if they don't look it. Still, though, your reflective material won't make or break your grow and it's certainly not worth stressing over.

Also... your moms won't show signs of stress from being boxed up in the dark for several days - personal experience in a similar-sounding situation. IME, all that happens in the first week is the new growth is very pale green, but it will fix itself after reintroduction to light. :smoke:

I'm pretty sure things are going to be OK...getting ready to take down my last round of flower now (going to flush them for a few more days) and then I'm going to clean up my flower room, replace the Daystar AC I'm using with a Radiant 8" hood to get some better coverage, and move the clones in there under the 1000 for a week or so of veg on full strength nutes before 12/12 so I'm thinking within two weeks I'll be flowering these girls. The F-13s are my all stars they are really shooting up, pics tonight or tomorrow of them all. I want to do a bunch of transplanting and clean some stuff up first though.
As far as what I was flowering I changed the H3ad formula substantially this time...ran the micro a little longer at the beginning and gave them liquid koolbloom pretty much up until the end...I think it made a difference, one haze plant hermied a lil bit towards the end but other than that even my Somango crosses held up nicely (which is surprising given Somango has a strong tendency to hermie...I've had nanners on those before and they're all clean this time). Nice and purple and smells lovely up there. I'm going to finish these to 70+ days as well I think the Somango genetics in the cross would like that and I know the haze will. I'm not in as much of a rush this time I can still veg my next ones out a little more they took forever to root and get going, plus I had a fairly large setback last month to deal with.
In the meantime I've been working with a good friends outdoor F-13, in fact I believe my F-13 mothers mothered a good number of his outdoor F-13 clones and everyone who smokes this stuff is pretty blown away so I'm looking forward to what these girls do inside. The Chem DD is kicking some ass too, and I finally got the SSH to root. I started using H2O2 on the clones again last week at this point it is helping again I believe because I had some pretty explosive root growth immediately after applying it again.
There will be pictures...I'm just thinking of waiting until I get the new gear to do it. Next day or two. A question I had for anyone that has used the radiant hoods, is the difference between the 6" and 8" just the flange diameter? Because if that is the case I may get the 6" instead. But if the hood is smaller in any way other than that I'm going 8". Probably should just ask that one at the hydro store but if anyone reading this knows offhand I'd be happy to know before I go.
be safe

I'm looking forward to seeing the new setup once you have it all rolling. I like hearing F13 make a buzz with folks. Seems outdoors they put out much better than indoors. I hope to put some outside this year if I can find a new place to put them. I'll be interested to hear how people like the outdoor crop comapred to the same plants grown indoors. THanks for the update!
