I really want to gather everyone that says "don't legalize pot, but medical pot is okay" in a big group and drop the bomb on them that medical marijuana is the same thing as regular marijuana, and see how shocked they were.

Yeah, a lot of people I know think that it's two different things.

(I know one of the big points in the difference is the intent, but I mean if it helps you relax and shit, that's basically medicine imo. You don't need to be fucking dying to need a pick-me-up. This was just me having fun.)

Edit: Can I down myself in rep for this post? :p

Too bad that these bill's don't allow patients to cultivate their own plants like the previous two bills allowed and passed in the assembly both times but were never voted on in the senate. Also did you know that NY has had a Medical Marijuana laws passed since 1980 but has failed to put the program together or set up the board to give out the recommendations. Typical NY style.

Well, I guess that settles it. The majority rules, right?

Now those 70% New Yorkers have to figure out to vote for the right politics, not the guy they want to go out and have a beer with.

So where does the state get its weed? Who are the "state-licensed entities"?

This is from the article: "To make the law more palatable to skeptics, Mr. Gottfried said, this year’s legislation allows registered patients to obtain at most only most 2.5 ounces of the drug from state-licensed entities, which would be overseen by the state’s Department of Health."

I.e., no growing your own or growing for other patients. Sheeesh!

I have always read that "government weed" is shitty
fucking shwag. Has anyone seen the documentary
of the 8 or so patients that were grandfathered
in after some Big Brother law was made " not
sure what " .....?

The film consists of this guy who has a disease
where bone fragments grow into soft
tissue, making it very painful , and if
a bone cuts an artery.... He got this
round metal tin full of about I think
350..some-odd pre- rolled joints
of Government Cannabis. He
said it was "OK"

I have read that they have some
strain that has a lower THC %
probably about maybe 7%
( Yay! )

Anyway, He gets one tin
per month. I will search
for this doc. film and follow
up with a link.

Untill later, may
the sun shine upon
you all! or maybe
a 1000w HPS or
10.

Just cleaning up some facts:

13 people were admitted to the program. 6 have died, so 7 still receive 300 hermetically sealed joints every 25 days.

The documentary is In Pot We Trust (pretty sure).

New York was at one time considered a "progressive state". Now in New York they do as Bob sang " he say kill it before it grow". New York is in the stone age. Last year NY had the chance to pass the law. The reason the law wasn't passed was because a greedy pig politician that beat his girlfriend up couldn't decide who's side he was on. (since this was first written the New York Senate has now expelled the fool)He was elected as a Dem, then tried to flip to Rep. All this while the rest of the greedy politicians were to vote on year end bills. Many of the bills could have stopped the $$$ problems facing NY today and the Medical Marijuana bill was to be voted on too. Nothing was voted on. All while the greedy political thieving pigs received my tax money for pay. Now this year the problem is they don't know how to cut up the pie. F'em all. I try live outside thier realm, and mostly do. When I do pay attention to the greedy political thieving pigs, I only get upset. Who needs that? Do what you know. One thing for sure about NY is the NY Yankees look strong again this year and twenty eight should be on the way!

.....like the people of NY have a say in this, even if it were 100% it still wouldn't be legalized. But let us hope.

which one garners more sentiment a grandmother with oxygen tubes going up her nose smoking marijuna?or the long haired hessian, replete with tye dye, long hair going woh man I think Im stoned?for fucks sake have some politically objectivity.
there is a differance between the two,and I having suffered so long the dude Im stoned stigma, a host of judgemental d.a.r. republicans or uptight moms who smoke and then put a facade of lying to their children.I want no part of legalization i think it would be a step backward with all the negative pr over medicinal mj here in cal,and the subsequent birthing pains I question the effacy of legalization over a medicinal approach to legalization.if it was legalization with no taxation I might consider, but the people who believe that goverment should line up and fund their retirement plans off the backsides of pot smokers will always get a no vote.

In New York state, under the revised Medical Marijuana bill, licensed vendors will be the suppliers. So it will be produced by private industry.

yeah, somethings cooking in NY this year, doesn't smell that great to me
the NJ model seems to be spreading like a plaque in what are probably going to be the new MMJ states
if i can paraphrase the nj bill, you have to be

1) so sick so as to not enjoy it
2) so sick you probably couldn't actually make it to a dispensary without collapsing
3) if you do manage to make it there, you'll walk into a barbed wire compound where the 'medicine' is rolled out in lead boxes so as not to contaminate the workers, and at the end you'll get a large red 'M' tattooed on your forehead

but other than that, it's progress

That's not true......

S3364 creates registered organizations for the purpose of acquiring,
possessing, manufacturing, selling, delivering, transporting or
distributing marihuana for certified medical use. A registered
organization maybe a pharmacy; an Article 28-licensed facility
(hospital, clinic, etc.); a not-for-profit corporation organized to be
a registered organization; the Department; a local health department;
or a registered producer (an entity that produces marihuana, solely
for sale to other registered organizations).

Excuse me?
Legalization a step backward?
It should never have been criminalized, period. That was the step backward.
Not one person should ever have gone to jail for weed.
It was "legal" from the beginning of time until the 30s, and was unfairly demonized by the greedy industrialists with competing products. How can anyone justify the tactics which resulted in cannabis being criminalized?
I would like to see it legalized totally, and every person who is rotting behind bars for cannabis offenses be released.Politics be damned, and keep the government out of our business.

obviously i had a bit of hyperbole in my description of NJ bill
but i have grave reservations what a dispensary only model will be like
just sounds the old fed system that has whithered away(almost)
i just don't think dispensary only will please anybody
anti MMJ will hate it,few patients will probably use it
maybe it will turn out better than i think, just don't get that feeling from i've seen
