What kind of cloning gel/powder do you use?

Whats up everybody? I am thinking about switching up my cloning method a little bit. I am currently using root tech cloning gel with rapid rooter plugs. I clone inside humidity domes (with heat pads underneath) until some what rooted. I have been getting a little bit of root/stem rot lately, not sure if it is because my plugs are too wet, or if my gel is too old. I've been using the same container of gel for like a year. Not sure how long gels last for. So, what kind of cloning powder/gel do you use? And if you wanna add what your cloning medium is/ technique that is cool too.

straight washed coco (coir fiber), NO DOME, NO MISTING (when you use the coco, it's like sticking the cutting in a glass of water), and I use CLONEX gel:

get a cutting with one leaf, and a growing tip, about an inch long, cut it at a 90 degree angle to the stem (no diagonal or bias cuts, it fux up water intake) use a VERY SHARP RAZOR BLADE OR SCALPEL,......now poke a hole in the coco fiber (hydrated and washed several times UNLESS it's bagged) with the end of a wooden skewer, dip the cutting in the gel (bout 1/2" is fine) and stick the cutting into the hole in the coco until it bottoms out (obviously don't make the hole deeper than a half inch), now tamp the coco down around the stem, and give it another splash of STRAIGHT PH ADJUSTED WATER, NO CLONING SOLUTION, then just stick it on a warming mat and forget about it for 3 to 4 days, then give it another splash of WATER (if you use a rooting/cloning solution it takes LONGER to get roots showing) USE FLUORESCENT lighting (cool blue will grow roots the fastest)

you should see fat roots in 5-10 days, and nearly a 100% success rate, even with tough to clone varieties, like green crack

whats up louie, i use Olivias clone gel and Advanced Nutrients Jump Start, i dip the clone in the gel, and stick it in my Ez-cloner. I add Jumpstart to the water in the cloner, and i also add it to my foliar spray and mist 2-3 times a day, roots in 10-12 days. Anyone who says that they get roots in 5 days is lying to you, maybe you'll see little white "bumps" on the stem in 5 days.....if your lucky.
Good luck, peace

This is the first time I've used Rez's method w/ a few tweaks of my own...........

Canna Coco w/ 25% perlite. Dipped fresh cuts in Clonex for 2-3 minutes. Canna Coco Nutes w/ Cal Mag at 450 ppm (Hanna scale). Cut my clones HUGE per Rez's instructions. I misted them once and put them under a dome for the first 24 hours. These were cut 5 days ago.

These are SFV OG clones which are notorious for taking forever to root. They appear to be doing fine to me...............

I'm glad you posted that,.......

watch for my thread "ROOTS IN 7 DAYS", and prepare to eat some crow (might even get some in 5, it happens often)

I'll ask how you like the crow cooked after you see the results

see you soon in root land!

i use clone x gel and liquid and see lots of white dot real fast but not fully rooted till like 14 days. i get the same result with plain water just don't see the white dots as soon.

i am using clonex at the moment. works great for my clone dome too!

but the guy at my shop keeps telling me to use Olivias. even named his kin after it. apparently. :dunno:

I also used some generic rooting powder, along with jiffy expanding pellets and had 100% rooting with all of mine. I would scrape off about 3/4" of the bottom of the clone, dip it into the powder and shove it into an expanded pellet. They usually hold enough water that you don't have to water them at all, and it's super easy to just give them a little squeeze and see if water drips out. If it didn't I just sprayed the pellets until they were moist again. This was for grows in soil though, I have never tried hydro.

Just this last week I did a side-by-side test of Olivia's gel and basic Rootone powder.

Rootone powder rooted both strains in about half the time the gel did. Have to say I was a little surprised. Time to switch back to the powder, I guess.

I feel sorry for Olivia.

The name is cool, just not the best story to tell people.

Clonex, r/w 1.5" cubes, diagonal cut, 14 days with humidity dome and heating pad, low strength GH 3part flora.

I will have to do a Pepsi challenge next time with diagonal cut vs. 90 deg cut.

I use the dome and heat pad clone x gel and rapid rooter plugs i like them better than the rockwool and oasis cubs tried all 3 and it works fine for me sometimes i get roots in 9 days to 3 weeks depends on the strain.

Nice! There are some good ideas flowing! Those SFVs look like they will be rockin Bunz. I think I need to do some thinking. I'm gonna make a trip to the store on Monday....hmmmmm so many choices

I personally use no powders... Just Advanced Nutrients Juicy Roots.

As a medium pre-soak (soil) I use the following:

To a single gallon of distilled water I add 2.0mL of JumpStart, approxiamtely 0.5g of Tarantula, approxiamtely 0.5g of Piranha, 5.0mL of Voodoo Juice, 2.0mL of Fulvic acid, and 2.0mL of CarboLoad.

The mix concentrations varies per strain, but this is the baseline for my rooting mix.

Dyna-gro root gel. I've had about a 98% failure rate so far. I don't blame the gel though, my temps were too low, took them out of the domes too soon, and I hadn't found the correct medium yet (peat moss and vermiculite looks like it is working).
