Ive been growing for a year now, and i had many different strains during the time and different phenos of blue cheese also, and when i got this awesome pheno that smells like something i never smelled before (Cheese it must be, since it has a unique smell i haven't been in touch with before). And now to the problem - just the blue cheese makes me a a lil itchy and shit when i take care of it, nothing else .. Im helping a friend with setup and such, and when im around that grow i have no problems what so ever with itches and such.. So can i be allergic to different terpens?

Edit: Since i was tokeing when i wrote this i just wrote it in this forum part, since im new i dont really know where shit belongs :) Sorry if it's totally wrong

you may be on to something.

i was chatting with a guy @ Good Karma and he said that he thinks he's allergic to Blue Dream. many people report the itchy feelings, especially when your skin rubs up against fresh growing buds.

you're just finding this out? how long have you been growing? I'm pretty sure most people's skin will have an allergic reaction when in contact with fresh resin. I know that I noticed it when I started growing. I get itchy and little red bumps from tending to gardens no matter what the strain.

edit: ha I'm retarded. you opened your thread with saying how long you've been growing. by the way, it is the cheese in the blue cheese that you smell. I started growing the blue cheese and was amazed by it. Now I obtained the UK cheese clone and thats definitely where the blue cheese funk comes from.

no its cause of the trichomes, like the heads that haven't developed stalks yet, there like miniature shards of GLASS! have you ever pet a shark backwards? its like the same thing x1000, they have denticals(sp?) that are like knives facing the tail, your hand slides smoothly head to tail, but tail to hand and BOOM, just irritates your skin, some people have problems if they eat cannabrownies that weren't strained in the butter stage if they have a weak GI tract. shards...of...glass....

Ever trimmed a leaf to check the trichs then put it in your mouth? It's almost like a slight sting/sandpaper feeling tothe tongue. Maybe that pheno could have pokey resins?:chin:

that makes sense.
i always thought it was more of a chemical allergy, like being allergic to cats or chocolate. just my opinion, though, no real evidence to back it up.
do you have some kind of evidence that would prove one side or the other?

I have had friends over the years who have managed to be sensitized and then have an allergic reaction to cannabis in general so I see no reason why you couldn't be having a reaction to a specific strain. Allergies are just your immune system getting tweaked out over nothing, plenty of plants can cause skin contact allergic reactions including cannabis.

Just to be safe, I recommend wrapping a tiny bud in bacon, chanting "taco" four times and then throwing it at a seagull. No real reason, I just hate seagulls.

there is a simple test for this:
1) soak a small rag in turpentine;
2) apply it to your asshole.
3) note any strong reaction :D

I am extremely allergic to Power Plant. Last year my girl had to take care of my crops for me because I was breaking out into serious hives all over my body. I'm not joking at all but my balls were the size of a grapefruit and my eyes were swollen shut. I also had golf size bumps all over my whole body and thought I was going to die. Shit is no joke be careful. I didn't know for months what was causing this and the doctor kept telling me it was maybe some new soap or detergent that I bought. When I smoked it I was in the worst pain and you can actually see these bumps grow. They perscibed me sterioids and they had a bad reaction with my body. I was angry and moody all the time. I didn't even have to touch the power plant, just the plants being in the house did this to me. After seeing a specialist I found out it was actually the weed but I already knew that. It's happened to me my whole life with only certain weed. I remember I was tripping on acid in 1996 and I was smoking a lot of weed and was allergic to it and had to go to the hospital on acid.

I get allergies all the time from different strains. Resiny fingers don't mix with my skin.
