Absence of light would stop the photosynthetic process and residual starches to glucose transformation would be slowed in the ribosomes, mitochondria and chloroplast. The chlorophyll will be compromised while there is still water stored in the vacule of each cell of the protoplasm. This will dilute the chlorophyll slightly. If it is your goal to eliminate the flavor of chlorophyll and enhance aromatic aesthetic cut off the fan leaves before turning out the light for 48 hours but keep watering the plant.

Perhaps it is the plant losing mass that give the illusion of more trichomes and the concentration of aroma. If you are going to dry and cure in the absence of light anyway why not get a head start? Or, why would it matter if you are going to leave it in the dark for another month to even go through the trouble?

Shock ripeining is very effective and i have done this on my last grows , The last 2 weeks i flush with plain water ph 5.8-6.2 and have zero-20 ppm in the water i hate harsh smoke that burns my throat etc... Then you take very cold water and for the last 3 days keep them in total darkness and water them the ice cold water and you will be amazed at the increase in aroma potency and heavy resin

ive heard this also.. never tried.. i think a good flush will give u the aroma and resin production .. mainly genetics..
