Aquarium Water?

I saw a local Public Utility vehicle with a sign that said something like: "Saving Water Tip #34: When changing your aquarium water, use it to water your plants. It is full of nutrients and a great natural fertilizer."

Has anyone ever experimented with some aquarium water in their garden? I am speaking of freshwater by the way.

Back when I was growing in dirt and had an aquarium.. it was a natural to use the aquarium water to water my girls. They loved it. It was a bit of a hassle tho.. my aquarium was on the first floor and my grow room was upstairs.. it got old lugging 20 gallons of water up stairs, but they liked it so much, I did it once a week. Now I grow hydro and feed my hop plants (I also brew.. I'm proud to say, I make both my main buzzes) outside with my drained nutes.. I had a bumper crop of hops this year!

Thanks for the info. I have a small ~10 gallon aquarium in my room and I was just thinking of grabbing a keg cup of the water every time I water and giving the girls a little treat.
Off topic, but where did you buy the hop seeds? Any suggestions? I am just starting to brew and would love to have a few vines.

Thanks. I did find that thread while searching. I guess I was just wondering if aquarium water poured in soil would harbor any unwanted bacteria/fungus/mold. I should have made it more clear that I want to water plants in soil and don't want any strange outbreaks.

You don't grow hops from seeds (unless ur a masochist). You work from rhizomes. You can get them right now from BeerMoreBeer. You plant them this spring and you'll get a meager harvest this year, but you'll get progressively more bountiful harvests till about 10 years, then they will moderate. I put 5 rhizomes in 11 years ago and this past year I got over 3 pounds of hops from my vines. The were 12 feet high and took over my entire balcony. Good luck brewing.. When my plants get water it comes from the aquarium. i have a 72g thats fully loaded with poop producers, its my other hobby. I can say 100% that it is the reason my plants look so good. this is the first run i've used the fish water and the results for me have been nothing short of amazing.
I cant speak for flowering yet, I'm only a week into 12/12. I may add some metaK eventually to bump the K, I seriously doubt the water is lacking in P and obviously good in the N dept. For soil, I'm using FFOF with about 25% more perlite.

if fish emulsion is good for plants, I don't see why their poopwater would'nt be..
