the war drugs was one of the deadliest wars of ALL time, we must of have lost millions, It could very well be the war with the most casualties, MIA's, and hostages

As much as I like that article, and the many great points they made, there is every indication that the war on drugs is still going full-bore.

In fact, it appears that they recently ramped up the funding for the war, and despite statements by Obama and co., the budget contains twice as much funding for enforcement/interdiction than for treatment.

The US still has a long ways to go :(

i used to think that growing up, cocaine, and heroine was the devil... i have never touched those drugs but I now understand that they are no worse than alcohol, and that these drugs being illegal has been one of the biggest cams on planet earth

It's sad but there was never any WAR to begin with. War means (basic definition) a fight, struggle or battle against an enemy. We never went to South America to "battle" anything or any other country for that matter. Including fighting drugs in our own! We went to put our greedy hands in it. Keep us drugged up! Makes a lot of money

nice read, its crazy to think how much our government has wasted trying to fight drug dealers and imprison people.

not sure if its true though, because even here in cali the police are still knocking down doors for marijuana, my friend got hit yesterday he lives in oaksterdam and was running a baby ass grow (3-4k 100 or so plants)

They, (the government) have never been able to stop the American people from having what they want, never. Sure, there have been casualties and incarcerations; but here we are, probably most of us stoned, having a nice little chat about the war on drugs. Duh.
How many people do you think are high right now in these United States? How many more would be high if we leagalized MJ?
There are just too many of us, they might be starting to understand that, they know they can't lock up every stoner in this country. You'd need one cop per person, which brings me back to my basic point; the American people get what they want, sometimes later than sooner but we always get our way. We will in this instance also. There are over 360 million people, and a virtual handful of lawmakers and leo's. Who do you think is going to win? Peace

The War Mongers have taken a few punches, but they are still a far cry away from raising the white flag.

Government Institutions die hard.
