Tired of Trimming....Need suggestions on Trimmer & Drying Racks

That pro cut seems like a much better value than the trim reaper. After seeing the trim reaper, they could sell that thing for $100 and still make a profit.

I'd love to see a side by side comparison of the pro-cut and the trim reaper and a thorough review.

The review on that site for the pro-cut sounds like spam from the manufacturer. How could the cut be any better, its the same basic design with many more accessories.

those of you using the DRY RACK....How much dry weight can you fit in each?, or how many for 10lbs dry?

I'd say 5-6 for a ten pound dry, I have 4 filled with about 8# right now. ABout a half pound per shelf so they can still dry. I wish the shelves were thinner! They don't need to be a foot high for bud, lol.

check them in the store, one of mine was missing the zippers on two shelves! Had to cut into it with a knife and has no zipper to close. Grrr.

Oh yeah, check the last page of my 8kw grow for pics of the trimmer, the trim job and drying racks. ;)

Gotta agree with that, my father owns a plasma cam (basically a plotter with a plasma cutter for a head) and I think I could make most of the parts for nothin, add a motor and order a couple dozen rubber fingers and then the hard part, transmission! The blades spin much faster than the rubber tumbler fingers, dunno how to reproduce that cheaply.

youve used the trim reaper, what do you think about this trim reaper like trimmer? pro-cut fast

Found a new one....pro-cut fast.....any one used this?.....I like that its on a stand, no top braces so it looks easier to load/unload & cheaper than the trim reaper....$1199 on the manf. website http://www.procutleaftrimmer.com/

No worries ma'am, it's all good!

I saw the procut, my only hesitations are the bag below (some of the trim is pretty fine, I'm worried the bag would "leak." Also, lots of trim comes out the top of the trim reaper with the lid off, it's also TONS noisier with the lid off. I think the procut would be noisy and would make a mess, but those are just my gut reactions without using one. ;)

speaking of fine trim....is the bottom of the reaper just tack welded to the sides? the pictures ive seen looks like some trim could fall between the side wall & the bottom? anything like this happen?

Maybe, but the outer collar fits inside the bottom, so trim can't get between them. Never had a problem with it, the floor stays clean.

I'd be nice if they made a shop vac port, where you could hook up a shop vac below the blades and suck all the trim down and it would probably make a tighter trim on the buds.

I did a 6 minute trim on the TR, it did a much tighter trim but I felt that it was damaging too many trichs. When the looser trim dries, the little bit of frosty leaf shrivels up flush anyway. No probs!

I'm wondering what the effect of these machines/tumblers are on the trichs. One would think lots of crystals would be falling off.
Is this the case, and do you collect them?

I thought they would too, but you can see with the naked eye that the trichs on the remaining bud are pretty much untouched, even at the "cut point." Under a scope there is no smudging even, I think the machine does a great and delicate job for what it does.

now i will have to admit that i didnt read the whole thread, but i thought i would add my experience. every yr i trim 30-60lbs. i run an old trim machine called a green reaper that i bought probably 5 yrs ago.
i bought a HedgeHog trimmer a couple yrs ago to speed up processing.
these both are table-top style trimmers. meaning u roll the buds over the top.

i prefer this way because im not having to cut each individual bud and throwing it in the machine like some other ones. i do pluck the large fan leaves by hand before running it across machine to make it easier on the worker and machine.
i stretched some fencing across a couple rafters. this gives me tons of hanging space. i can easily hang 20lbs on a 10x10 piece of fence.

I have a tip that might help others when packing the buds into these racks... I get string and copy length of the hanging cord, and tie it into the frame of the rack on the underside. So after a few days, and the top buds feel dry, I close the rack up like an accordion, flip it over, and hang it up side down. It really helps giving air to the lower and more covered buds.

Hope this helps

I tested out the flat blade as well as the X wire blade with my SpinPro.
They both work great but the flat blade is the keeper.
It spins much smoother and provides better cuts.
It takes about 1 minute per ounce.
My SpinPro came with a set of yellow fingers that are stiffer than the black pre-installed fingers.
I replaced 1/2 of the fingers with the stiffer version, alternating them.
It improved the performance when I started working with AK47.
I'm loving this SpinPro.
It also came with a drill attachment to motorize the spinning but I didn't try it.
