I float my Ph levels; meaning I'll start um out about 4.80 and let it go to about 6.20, before I bring it back down. Hope that answers your question.

And then you change it from ~6 to 4.8 in one day?
that whole .2 per day thing must not be that big of an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply =)

No, Baz means ph swing over the course of a week or longer. Learning ph management is something you just have to work at but once you "get it" it makes perfect sense. When you add fresh nutes to a hydro res the ph goes down. When you add water only ph goes up. Use this rule of thumb to allow ph to move all around the 5-6 range. Otherwise, you'd have to add a pretty big serving of ph up/down to the res to get the big swing you're asking about and your plants will not like it. Let ph move naturally, then use ph up/down only when necessary to fine tune ph.

I've still never seen better than the 5gal buckets, 6 of them should rock the house (literally it seems ;) ).

Peace, :joint:

hello, im new to growing and i was wondering if its true that you can add co2 by spraying soda water or carbonated water. i just also start my first DWC 10 gallon system, i will have pics posted soon.

thanks

Thanks for stoppin by Hydrosun, I hope to get things kickin of to a good start soon and welcome shmodank. It is true that you can add co2 by spraying soda water on the leaves, but you need to be careful about moisture if there is not good enough air circulation and exchange. Hope your growing goes great.

There's not going to be a noticable benefit to spraying seltzer water on your plants. A little CO2 bump sure but it's pointless unless the grow environment is dialed for CO2 (85degrees) and the elevated CO2 level is constant during lights on. Don't waste your time spraying plants with carbonated water.

thanks, im gonna give it a try and see how the results are. i have a great grow space right now and my plants are shooting up fast. im 10 days into flowering and they are all looking fantastic. im excited to see what happens after i add some co2.

I would like to understand in detail all the pH issues and how to manage it in a simple way, but I'm sure it's one of the many things that I try to understand before doing and it just doesn't happen. Learn by doing.

IGT, I appreciate you being around. You have helped my grow so much already! =P

Personally I use Ph Down all the time in my system. I run it at 6.2 for maximum nutrient absorption. When I change the res I def make sure it is at 6.2 in grow it is usually higher cause the nitrogen. One or two cap fulls of GH PH Down then check with electronic ph meter and add more if necessary. I also will add it to what I call my recirc bucket with no plant in it one or two cap fulls and let it circulate and mix then check again keep it 6.2 throughout the week. I honestly have never had problems doing this.

Update about siphons and all that.

The drill attachment sucks. It says right on it that it needs to be primed. What's the point of getting a siphon pump if it needs to be primed...... WHY NOT JUST SIPHON IT MYSELF THEN. shit.

I have just been using a 400gph pump in a 5gal bucket attached to my out line that has a soaker hose on the end. Works for now but it starts struggling with air when there is still like 4inches of water...

If anyone has any personal experience with a system similar to this and the cleaning process, please chime in as to what you do to clean it all between grows. And how you evacuate the water for nute changes.

So far it's only the top of the Blue Dream, but I am going to have to thoroughly examine all 4 plants. I moved the Blue Dream out on my work table... while I was picking up the plant I watched some of the lil guys lower themselves to other branches.

I think they are spiders, but I have no idea.

edit: confirmed Spider Mites. =(

I dusted almost all of the plant with diatomaceous earth. I don't see any movement from the insects, but they may have moved off the plant while I was in here uploading these pics.

Diatomaceous earth update:

Mites are still wandering around Blue Dream, closer inspection of the closet shows that they are everywhere (of course). I saw one walking across the mylar...
Sprayed diatomaceous earth into the fan a whole lot till the whole area was billowing with the stuff, held my breath the whole time and shut the door. Walked outside of the building to get my breath back.

This is only going to damage the adults, I am going to spray it with Neem tomorrow or tonight depending on how I feel about the infestation. -_-

DE is fine, but here is the deal.

head to the internet or your hydro shop and buy AVID. Costs about $50 an oz, however you mix 3 drops per L of water. Spray once all dead, spray again 5 days later never return.

This ain't my first rodeo. If you want answers 2 - 12 I have them too, but take the number one answer. Veg only.

Peace, :joint:

I have decided that tomorrow when I get up I am going to the store first thing and getting all the ingredients for the Mite Eradicator. I am sad.

Not sure where they came from, dosen't seem to matter. The environment got up to 100F according to the stupider thermometer, 98F on the good one. Humidity dropped down to 35% by the time I looked at the display, cuz I was working on the plants. I had the lower half of the closet turned on, and I didn't have it connected to a timer (it is now) so all night the small T5 bulbs were on keeping the temps up, and then the big T5 turned on and it kept rising.

I believe that is what made it go from unnoticeable to infestation in 1 night.
