Stadium Plant Placement Question?

Hi All,

I love the stadium designs with the vertical bulbs. I can see how the stadium part should be devised so the light hits the plants. My question is about the plant placement directly under the bulb or on the ground floor. Where does the vertical light begin to hit the floor area. If you dropped a straight line down from the bottom center of the bulb - would that area get any light? Where do you start palcing the plants on the floor? There would probably be a fan or cooltube line to contend with.

Thanks a million

if only hanging single bulbs, not dualstacks, there will be a an area at the bottom, directly below the bulb, that does not recieve as many lumens. It is still worth placing extar plants, (if available), underneath to yield a bit extra. I think having 2 bulbs a few feet apart horizontally parallel would help compensate for the 'dark' spots below the bulbs, because you would have two different angles of light. it would be something interesting to test with a light meter.
if i had more plants i would be taking advantage of the space below the bulbs, but i unfortunately i dont.
also because i use 2 single bulbs i have a fan directly below each pointed upward to carry heat up and away, however, you could have a fan on the side and create a wind tunnel acroos both bulbs toward the outake. not sure which would be more efficient.

when using dual stacks or even cool tubes id imagine you would have a space atleast 1square ft below the bulb of unusable area.but i have yet to try the dualstacks or cooltubes so am not sure.

I think you'll find the bulbs emit minimal light directly below the bulb, Pants will grow, sort of. There is also VERY little light above the socket, hence the light hanging even with the top shelf colas.Obviously the inverse square law does not change in vert, depending on how many shelves you have, the light may have to travel a long way to the lower plants, so take that into consideration during construction.
