Sour Diesel x Alaskan Thunderfuck Help! (Old Grower, New Breeder)

Hey guys, I'm an old school grower, but I've never done any breeding before. Not sure if this is the right forum category either. For years, I always grew from clones that I got from grower buddies. None of us ever had seeds or males around. I'm a medical patient and now I have a ton of seeds from various locations, and a pretty good array of genetics in general. I have always wanted to create my own strain, and not be amateur about it, really do a f2 or f3 pheno and get it right! Anyway, right now I have 7 seeds that I sprouted out of a bag of Sour Diesel. They came off of a Sour Diesel, but I was told that it was pollenated by a male Alaskan Thunderfuck. They also warned me that this is a very unstable cross and an f1 pheno. They are coming along pretty well, showing hybrid vigor. I sprouted them alongside some Sensi Seed Bank Hash Plant seeds, and the SDxAKTF is outgrowing it by a mile! So doing more research I saw that I should at the very least cross the strongest male and strongest female to do some inbreeding and get to at least an f2 or (ideally) an f3. However, I can see which ones are the strongest in the vegetative cycle, but there is no direct and fast way to see what type of buds they produce before I select the male and female I want to use. I know I can just clone the ones I like, and bud out the clones, and then decide later which ones, but that will take much space and time, and I have plenty of other stable genetics to bud out to keep me pretty occupied. I didn't breed the seeds, so I don't know if its ATF or MVTF. I've also heard that an indica-leaning pheno of this cross (probably from this same batch of seeds) is being passed around as "Arctic Kush". Personally, I would of named it Thunderfuck Diesel or something to that extent. I do see from these seeds that there was 1 or 2 that were much squatter and had fatter leaves, like an indica, I suppose thats the cut I'll let others have.

Okay, I want this strain now, and with my experience with F1 phenos, I will just clone these, bud out the originals, and see which bud I like the best, and keep propagating clones from that one. I still got a bunch of the seeds, so if I ever want a male to stabilize the strain, I can do that....just not in the mood for it now.....and thanks for the input guys!!!! *cough*sarcastic*cough*

if alaskan was the daddy then your prob in for some sugar..pop em and keep labled each one.. and if its m/f.. keep em all equal so you can really tell what ones you want.. get em big to where you want em. give ema all a go and select the keepers.. i try to use only the best Male out of the bunch that passes over some of the smells and growth that im looking for in the genes.. Good luck cant wait to see em ..ATF is a frosty Cedar Piney Thick smell.. and MVTF Lemonish Orange Tart Berry.. i think your going to love that shit

Nice ;)

You'll probably find your sweety out of those, sounds like a nice mix.
That hybrid vigor your seeing is HUGE! < pun intended :) If you get some nice flavors/aromas & they're stable, you're golden. ;)
You should see overall improvement over the first several generations of clones also, after you've chosen your mother/s. Faster, squatter & bigger colas IME, should just keep getting better!

Good luck, looking forward to your results

Dude, these girls just keep going like no tomorrow. Its funny, cuz you can already see the more sativa dominant ones and the more indica. Some are just almost 2 foot trees now, and some are staying stubby, but with fat bushy leaves and tons of nodes.

How are they doing?

I found a local ATF cut that I'm hoping to get soon. There's quite a few *TF's floating around, but one in particular ;)

Okay!?!? They are in 12/12 now in a tent, and showing the tiny hairs of the male preflowers, all 7 of 'em! I'm thinking they are all hermies! No bueno! :-( Will give it a few more days, and I'll try to get some pics up!

Okay, only 1 male in the bunch, they are now in the 3rd week of bloom. I actually left em at my buddy's house, since I've got a good bit on my hands right now, and they are under a single 1000w in a 6'x6' tent. They are fucking huge. There are 3 Flo's right in front there, and there is a single hash plant that we put in there for sexing, that we decided to bud out, but the rest is the SDxATF, anyway, without further adieu....

picture.php

These are the 3 Flo up front, they buds are huge, that one is about 5-6 weeks in, looking thick, but short. They need to hurry up and get out of there...
picture.php

Here you can see how massive they have gotten. We have twisted and broken the stem a few times, trying to bend them away from the light. One of the plants has grown way above the light and the bud on that node is very weak looking, since there is no light up there. Not sure what to do. This is Ebb&Flow, so the flood tray can't get any lower, because it needs the leverage to drain with gravity back into the res.

Sorry about the poor image, I only had my iPhone w/ me, not my camera at the time.

Obviously this is too many plants for a single 1000W light, and too many for that 6x6 tent, but what can we do to not get those tall girls light and heat burn. The light is fully ducted with insulated and is staying pretty cool, but they are literally getting right at it, with no sign of stopping! HELP, this is a good problem, but HELP! We don't want loose and airy buds! Too bad its not May or June, cuz these could just go in the ground and become trees!

From my understanding with breeding, I'm a noob on this too, you pretty much abuse to a certain extent a male of choice and a female of choice and make sure they make through watever you put them through without showing many definicies or shock, it will show you the real strong ones during veg, you cant abuse a weak plant because it will succumb to the abuse. A healthy vigorous plant with strong genes should stand up to average to slightly above average abuse, do this 2 or three runs in a row with the offspring of those semi abused, real strong plants and start breedding those, that way you weeded out the week gene pool.

Sorry, no new pics yet. Girls are flushing now and looking beautiful. I've noticed a few "banana peels" in the buds, tiny flat pollen sacks. I've heard that Sour Diesel and all it's relatives have a intersex (hermaphrodite) trait that is dominant. The pollen sacks don't look fertile, and there is no pollen coming out, but I do see that some of the buds have seed pods....which makes me wonder...

I'm pretty sure its NOT enviromental, there has been no light or nute stress, and the other strains in the same tent don't have seeds or pollen sacks.

Here are the pics before chop, someone on icmag suggest calling it Sour Fuck, but clones of it are being passed around as Arctic Kush from other growers.
