Sealed or unsealed room?

OMG, are we just trying to find out ways to use the voting threads or what? This solely depends on you and your skills as a grower. If you have fresh air entering your room or air adjustments then seal the room, if not open the freakin door... Damn, ICmagers, it's about time to just start thinking!!!! CO2 vs. Fresh Air, Door Closed Vs. Open, Cum on her stomach vs. her back, what's the difference???

I didn't mention that the first-timer buddy who ran this sealed room also had absolutely zero problems with powdery mildew or pests; in an area where most gardens are commonly plagued with powdery mildew and pests. Or the fact that it was as close to zero maintenance as possible (as far as room itself is concerned, not plants) to keep perfect environmental levels.

I'd love to hear from the 19 voters who voted that think an unsealed room is better.

What makes you think so? All else being equal, do you really think 300PPM Co2 (Atmospheric) is superior to 1500PPM?

A good design can overcome any obstacle.

To address #1: commercial location, no rooftop or outside floor / wall access. 4 ton full-sized ductless A/C system powering 16kw (2 x 8kw flip) non-aircooled by installing the compressor / outdoor unit in a dedicated, purpose-built room that is exhausted via duct. You've probably never seen anything like it actually implemented; but it goes back to the exact same concept of building a sheet metal "air-cooling hood" for a window-mount A/C that I had completely indoors and ducted outdoors, to cool my 2nd ever "commercial" grow. Nothing sticking out of the window. 14.5k BTU unit cooled a 6kw air-cooled grow easily, not cycling all that much.

To address #2: the additional $$ spent on a slightly higher power bill is gained back in:

• Higher yield & efficiency through more intense, "un-filtered" light w/ no loss through ducts
• Less costly reflectors or other lighting accessory equipment
• Less maintenance (never needing to clean glass)
• Simpler setups for potential things such as light movers, etc
• Lower cost on air-cooling equipment

That isn't to say that non-aircooled is the way to go for every situation, but I can argue using it in many.

I could literally write a book on these kinds of equipment & growing topics. But trust me. Sealed is "better".

well im just dialing in a new sealed room the only thing that lest it down is the fact that im using a portable air con unit and it does vent outside it is 14`000 BTU but it really struggles to keep at 25 deg up to 32 on hot nights (im going for a split soon as i can) but the question is what size split unit to keep 6 x 600 air cooled room @ 25 DEG. Oh and BTW would never go back to vented room as i have had Zero pest/mildew problems as i did with vented (just wish i could find a CO2 water cooled unit in OZ) i do have a CO2 unit but the heat factor will not allow me to use it. GO SEALED EVERY TIME!!

Sorry forgot to mention apart from the ac unit the room is vacuum sealed air tight, like i struggle to close the door when it connects with the door seals (plural 3 x door seals) So until i get my splitty i suppose my room is not sealed (and as there is no intake i guess that's why my AC is struggling a bit) but at least no nastys are sucked into the room ATM..

Is there any need for a exhaust to vent a sealed room at lights off? I have read in a few threads that its a good idea to dump the air out of grow space so the CO2 levels dont stay too high at lights off...

Any truth to that?

i'm afraid that is not within my financial reach as i am not a commercial grower. just a few plants for medicine ya know...

sealed wins no competition if co2 is applied correctly. 1500ppm does amazing things with proper setup. way better than unsealed. zero mold and no pests
