Hps only vs. Hps & Mh during flowering

I just started to flower out my girls in my 4x4 tent, with 2 stacked cooltubes. I decided to try both a 400mh and a 600hps through veg AND flowering. What are everyones thoughts on Hps only in flower vs. both spectrums in flower???

If given a choice between 2 hps or a combination mh/hps... Go with 2hps for bigger yield! =)

A combination of spectrums will make things more crystally, though.

My last few grows, i've had a problem with buds being too airy and not crystally enough, so i'm hoping this solves those problems and gives me tighter buds. Even at the expense of a little smaller yield. I'd rather have quality over quantity anyday.

nice grow! 2 hps's will yield more, but adding that blue light really brings on the shine big time!

im starting to run sunpulse hps bulbs. bulb burns almost white, bluish. the spectrum is insane compared to straight hps's or hortiluxes.

I have been thinking of running the hortilux blue 1000 watt in bloom vert stadium. the spectrum is compared to a ceramic metal halide. more spectral color of m/h hps combined 4 times more

I have just started a flower run with 2Kw Blue Ushio HPS and 2Kw Red Ushio HPS, the blue are a lot less lumens but I'm going to check out the multi spectrum thing.

30" dual socket cool tube arrived today. 600w hps ballast n bulb arrives tomorrow, 250mh already here. So, tomorrow, 250w on bottom, 600w hps on top.. bottom buds will grow closer to tube, weaker bulb, ideally.. and not get burnt. my current vert plant's bottom buds all went closer towards tube so.. maybe this will work.

if it sucks.. I'll just put a 400w hps in place of 250w mh.. already have one of those laying around, but I'm going for that crystal boost too and don't care too much bout yield as the strain already serves pretty well. 4x4 secret jardin.

I would love to be able to run MH but my cool tubes don't fit 1000's, I run hortilux HPS start to finish now with no real dif.

nice man. i have also considered trying out this exact design... screens and all! guess great minds think alike. also considered running a 1k HPS + 600 full spectrum sunpulse in a 5x5. i hope you post up more pics of your grow. subscribed.

Hey Krunch, I thought those Sunpulse bulbs were metal halides with spectrums geared more toward flowering. Did they come out with an HPS too? Let me know what you think of them.

they have both, but the hps goes up to 400 wats only. i am using the metal halide though, good call.

just harvested a room using them, not dry yet. the crystal content is good. the light is on the white/bluish side, room looks alot different without the hps orange.. they also run a little hotter then hortiluxes.

So, my lil mother that i stuck in my tent to finish out her last 5wks under the mh and hps is almost done. Gonna harvest her this weekend. I just wanted to say, that the addition of mh more than DOUBLED the trich production of her! Also, i took a lower immature bud last week, dried and smoked it last night, and i have to say the potency was far stronger than hps alone(unless it was a fluke occurance). The high lasted over 4 hrs, compared to just an hr from last harvest under all Hps. So, for me, it'll be Mh with Hps from now on. I'll post some pics when i chop her this weekend.

Sounds great, they love it, if you really wanna hype things up, get a cheap UVB ligh at the reptile store t and do some extra crystallizing on the nugs.
