Weird Growth...?

I wasn't sure where to post this...hopefully someone has an idea of what is happening..:joint:

This branch is growing from the bottom of the plant. The plant is around 3,1/2ft tall.
The branch is about 3 or 4 branches thick, but only 1 branch wide (almost totally flat, but wide as hell). and the head of the plant seems to be going crazzzy! (someone said it looks like a sunflower)
The plant has almost finished its second week flower.... you can see the smaller normal buds forming around in the photos, but the mutant head is a pure beast...
Im just hoping this isn't a possible budrott situation....
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks tbf :joint:

or click here for bigger pic....i think... http://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=14126&pictureid=286318

:smokeit:wow TheBudFather looks like you have a polyploid on your hands there was a grow a few months back on a nycd polyploid......

it dosent mean your plants are sick they just have an extra set chromosones....i found something on wiki...

Polyploidy occurs in cells and organisms when there are more than two paired (homologous) sets of chromosomes.

Known paleopolyploidy in eukaryotesMost organisms are normally diploid, meaning they have two sets of chromosomes — one set inherited from each parent. Polyploidy may occur due to abnormal cell division during metaphase I in meiosis. It is most commonly found in plants. (Haploidy may also occur as a normal stage in an organism's life. A haploid has only one set of chromosomes.)

Polyploidy also occurs normally in some animal tissues, such as human muscle tissues.[2]

The occurrence of polyploidy is a mechanism of speciation and is known to have resulted in new species of the plant Salsify (also known as "goatsbeard").

Speciation via polyploidy: A diploid cell undergoes failed meiosis, producing diploid gametes, which self-fertilize to produce a tetraploid zygote.Polyploidy can be induced in cell culture by some chemicals: the best known is colchicine, which can result in chromosome doubling, though its use may have other less obvious consequences as well. Oryzalin also will double the existing chromosome content.

hope this helps...:smokeit:

sometimes the the polyploidy traits aren't designated for one area on the plant it depends where it effects the plants dna helix axis and divides the cells, the genome .......keep it up and post some more pics as you go along...

Guys, sorry to pop your polyploid bubble, that's a good example of what's called a crested or clubbed form , a common mutation on many plants. You'll get a nice spiral of small buds before the head terminates at the 'crest'. Usually the stem will be flattened also. Is that the case? Mine was good smoke. Best of luck for yours.
