Grow Clean.... Go Fast!
Well, we are about 3 days away from transferring our first round of vegged clones into flower and figured we should probably get around to finishing up the flower room. We still have a little work to do, but I figured I would post some teaser pics before Sunday comes. For this first round, we will have 2 stacked 1500 HPS bulbs, and we have 2 more with the room and planned setup for Dual, dual stacked 1500s!

We are using some Costco shelves on casters and built a box to house our fan and to secure the cabling to. I love all the shelving costco has. We have some others and use the extra shelves that don't go into the unit as racks on the floor to keep plants off the concrete. Here we also cut one shelf to make the "grill" part of our fan cover. Anyways, those 1500s are BRIGHT! They are also warm once they get going. We are still a little worried about them getting to hot and melting the coating on the wire, so we still have some more testing before the plants move in. But we had them on for about an hour yesterday and it was IRIE mon!

When all is said and done here, we plan on having 6 shelves around the 4 bulbs with 2 rows of 3 plants for each shelving unit. So 36 "bushes". This first round we vegged horizontally, as I was still trying to convince my partner of the benefits of trying vert. No one around here that we had talked to had ever heard of it, so they all talked alot of shit, shit they didn't know. So it did take some convincing and use of all of YOUR threads to convince him that we should be trying it. So the next round should be vegged vert in a similar type setup with dual 1000w MH.

Again, some more pics will come later, but so far here is the setup:

Ohhh, mysterious....

Many people veg in a flat garden for their vert flower rooms. Good on you for making him see the light through all the talk...

ResinG,

Yeah, it won't be too bad. However I did find these products at Walmart called "clothes line tensioners" or something along those lines that I think could make life for all of us way easier, but didn't implement them yet. They would make everything SUPER easy as it is a simple adjustment to lower or raise the lights. The way we have it is actually labtec's design. I basically copied him with the addition of wing nuts!

Marlo,

Thanks for checking in, I hope to have some of your dsds in there soon!

Schrews,

Hey, everything is a work in progress, and we are definitely in "experimentation mode" still, but thanks for the positive comments!

Choch,
I am not sure about having the greatest success vegging horizontal first. Our plants are coming out of veg right now at about 2.5 to 3 feet. I would rather have them accustomed to vert already i think. But really, I don't know... Another reason we are going to switch though is that we are pretty stoked on the multi level idea right now to be able to get more plants in the same area....

LIG,
It is about 11'6W X 9'6D X 11'H or so. i need to double check those numbers, as I always seem to lose them in my mind. I will let you know for sure though when I post the final setup pics....

just realized there is only 2 bulbs, and you said you will be adding 2 more?

i have 4 1K's in my vert room and it is kind of overkill... especially after seeing what Krunch did with 3K.. any particular reason why you want so much light?

4x1500W = 6000W, so getting a gram-per-watt means pulling almost 14 pounds out of that room! good luck, hopefully you can get everything dialed in and beat the 1gpw mark.

i seriously doubt he will even touch .8g/watt with 1500's, but everythings possible. I think hes making another big circle with 2 more lights added also, not 4 in one room

Well, I guess there is no particular reason, besides it was what we thought we can do with the resources we have. We aren't really sure what to expect....

To tell you the truth, I would be stoked to get .8g/watt right now. Like I said before, this is a work in progress and I am sure that our setup will change and progress. I haven't seen or heard from anyone with a 1500w vert setup, so we are charting some unknown territory (for us).

To be clear though, we will eventually have 4 in one room. 2 for now. I am heading out there tomorrow to finish up. Can't make it today. I will take some pics and post them.

Criticism and advice as to what to change or improve on is WELCOME. Again, this is our first go around, so I don't claim to know what I am doing... at all! Ha!

Thanks!

I'd far prefer to veg vert as well, less space used, no flood trays or reflectors to buy or store. Would enjoy hearing some details about the veg setup when you have time after finishing the build. :)

awesome use of the wire shelving, I was going to do that but it was about 5x more $ than the cinderblocks and 2x4's that i ended up using. looks super clean. sweet.

Nice n' clean set up growclean, good choice of handle :)

How bout putting up something reflective around the outside of the plants looks awfully dark round there.

What size containers are your bushes in? How long did you veg to get them that size? What medium are they in?

Thanks for the positive words!

We have a mix of strains in there right now due to only being able to get what we could get as far as our first round of clones went. After these strains and their clones or any mothers we keep we will only be growing from seed. Right now there is some Blueberry, Cheese, Grunk, White Widow, and Purple Kush in there as well as a couple of the HazeXSkunk freebies that I first grew out as a practice round of seeds.

We are NOT dialed in yet. (Still trying to make sure the darn timers work even, LOL!). I think some white poly on the back of the shelves could not hurt, but once the plants grow "into" each other, I am not sure it will be needed. Tomorrow, we are still going to devise some type of screen to tie the plants to. They vegged flat and have alot of growth from the backside that isn't currently getting alot of light. We will tie them towards the light.

We are growing in an organic soilless mix. LC #2 from the organic forum with home brewed teas. They currently reside in 7 gallon smart pots. We are currently hand watering, which is actually really easy and quick how they are currently set up. We do not plan on watering until there is runoff or at least much. If it becomes an issue I will figure out a way to deal with it, like attach trays to the underside. The tallest plants were about 36 to 37 inches going in.
