Katsu again
Katsu three time over. Such a good coffeeshop ; really excellent gear ; sensible prices ; nice people ; great place to hang out. It's perfect

Greenhouse not too bad but I would advise not the GH in the red Light district. I don't know why but everytime I have been there, the weed has been in worse shape than in their other branches and the staff were extremely unfriendly. I like the branch over by Waterlooplein. Their Hawaiian Snow is out of this world. But so much of their gear (and, sorry, this is true of Barneys and De Dampkring too) it waaay over priced.

The homegrownfantaseeds coffeeshop is also worth checking out, as is, for hanging out at least (haven't bought there) Siberie. I agree grey area though their opening hours sometimes rather loosely adhered to and it's very small so buy some buds there and move if it's busy. Dutch flowers often has excellent gear but also often has total ar$eholes on the till (why???)

I would say too that some places are worth going to to smoke in but not necessarily to buy in. the Barney's, GH and De Dampkring Branches on Haarlemmerstraat are all recently refitted and are really flash, if that's your thing.

If you like things more homely and mellow, I can also recommend highly the Yo Yo coffeeshop. YoYo and Katsu are close to Albert Cuyp Market (and the galleries).

Last time I went to YoYo they had a bunch of not great weed but some amazing organic haze amongst it all. And it's a lovely quiet place to hang out, especially on a sunny day.

This site has all you need on A'Dam coffeeshops:

Have fun!

Oh, yes, other shops... Homegrown fantaseeds shop on Nieuwezijdsvoorburgvaal (sorry about the spelling) and the Dampkring shop opposite centraal station are good growshops.

And you must visit the pollinator shop and pay your respects!

if you can be tempted away from the red light district, you might want to go and try Boerejongens or Bij :)

Katsu....down in de Pijp very near Albert Cuyp Market. There are some others in that area, too. I'm staying in de Pijp the first week of July..in an aprtment near Carmona and Yo Yo. Home Grown Fantasy is another "must see". There's a websit.... Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory, that features all the shops in town with comments from travelers. They have a forum too, which is a wealth of info on everything in A'dam and beyond.

After many visits to the dam I finally checked out katsu and it is for sure my all time favourite. Really nice well grown, cured weed direct from the breeders in some cases. Fantastic lavender and black widow last time I was there but most of all it is just a cool relaxed place to chill. Not convinced the chick behind the counter even smokes because she doesn't seem to know alot but very nice and friendly which is more than you can say about many budtenders in the dam. The neville's haze and rifman stuff from dampkring group is the top tier of what is on offer also. Not alot to do cannabis related other than nug/hash hunt these days imo.. way better in the mid 90's when positronics was still around and the growshops were pushing the limits more. sensi hash museum is a joke and the dampkring growshop display garden was infested with thrips and mites last year when I was last there. But LOTS of non cannabis stuff worth checking out, I love just wandering the canals and exotic hash hunting though.

Thai Bird Snack Bar/restaurant is my favourite place to eat, located just outside of the red light district.

My two pence and a farthing....

My two pence and a farthing....

Lessee....

:dance013: I like-y:

Public Transportation- Rocks in amsterdam.
Head over to Central Station with ID and get a week-long (or whatever) tram pass, and a map. Amsterdam is flat as hell, walking is fun,but trams rock....

Foodism- For breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food can't be beat.
Three doors down from The Grey Area, within spitting distance of Singel.

De Dampkring- Some of the best staff in Amsterdam (IMO) and a very nice (but expensive!) bubble hash menu. The weed varies, some of the best I've ever got was from Dampkring-and some of the worst.
Buy from the expensive end of the menu, and try the Moonshine#1 bubble.

Melkweg (The Milky Way)- A great bar,and it's "brown" so you can smoke weed inside.

ROYALTY- A great dance club, open late-night,down Leidesplein.... You are also welcome to smoke herb and hash in here....

Dutch Flowers Coffeeshop,Singel- Great (opiated) "Nepalese"
(actually,imo,"Afghani") hash,and decent red bull....

'Dam Square- A freak show,(in a good way!) on any "average" day.

The LUSH Shops- Fucking excellent, organic soap.
A U.K. company,I fell in love with their gear in A'Damm.

Shorama & Filafel- From any of the little shops,it almost always :D kicks ass....Especially at 1:30a.m.,with a good buzz on....

:whistling: File under: DON'T WASTE ALL OF YOUR TIME SMOKING DOPE IN COFFEESHOPS,DO SOMETHING INTELLIGENT,YA' POTHEAD! : :whistling:

Anne Frank House- Somber,and sobering.
Take the 25 minute walk through, you'll be glad you did.

Van Gogh Museum- Absolutely incredible, get real baked first.

:flu: No NOT Bother With: :flu:

Barney's- Shitty, "American-style" breakfast is fucking gross, and to say that their weed is sub-par is an understatement.

Live Sex Shows- The only person more bored than you will be the performers.

The Red Light District- It's almost gone,a sliver of what it used to be. It's a waste of time, imvho. Go over in the day time and visit Sensi Seeds store, then have your GF's picture taken by "the penis fountain" (if that's your thing!) other than that,it's full of dildo shops down alleys and bootleg porn. And then, you bypass the nasty heroin dealers on the bridge ("Charlie","Horse","Wanna' Buy?") and head over to 'Dam Square and laugh at the street mimes....

Thassall for now!

Cheers!

I digress, the Penis fountain with rotating balls is no more. Have to dig up some old photos. Feeling nostalgic.
Definitely hit the museums, as Rez mentioned Van Gogh and also Rijksmuseum.

Peace

Thanks Rez !!!
the A'dam visit tour bye a genius like you, very interesting opinion.:thank you:
Who arrives a little late for my case. ( No matter,I'll be back )

In fact I was already to go to Dam 10 years ago and I found the things changed considerably meanwhile. And on the good side!
Much, much less dangerous for the “pot head” than we are.
Less dealers of dope and they are more discrete (it was time);
better quality of weed ( if you don't take some exotic stuff, everywhere the products are good ), less swindles for the tourists in general.
One of the most beautiful cities of the worlds! :good:
But not to hesitate has to leave the city; Holland is a marvellous country, really. Where obviously, it makes good things in life.
Thank you all for your answers.:tiphat:
