guess it's time to give Tatuaje a try. Not been smoking(cigars) for 4-5 months now. Just smoked a RP vintage 1990 today, loved it.

I guess so,dammit. I hate it when I find out things are done in a slipshod manner WTF!!:dunno:

Rocky is horrid(company and the man himself). He puts out a new cigar, every month(not a good thing in the cigar industry).

Check out Tatuaje and Pepin Garcia(or anything made by him). Amazing people, even more amazing cigars. The Garcia's recently opened Nicaragua's largest cigar factory in Esteli. I should be visiting it this year.

Let me know if you need anymore recommendations or any other questions.

Thanks for the advice. I've not smoked a Tatuaje, but now i will.

Not a fan of Camacho, since they decided to take Matt Booth and try and make him their version of Pete Johnson. Room 101 cigars, lol.

well, what can i say??? ur reason for not liking camachos is personal..
it still doesnt take away from the fact that the triple maduro is an excellent cigar. priced well also. 12 bucks a stick for such quality is great.

True, thats the wonderful thing about cigars, everyone has their own taste. I find the Ashton Cabinet an excellent mild stick for the morning, while people cringe at them because they have a "generic" taste and the price tag is high. But for me, I dont see that.

Hey guys,

Correct...cigar choices are DEFINATELY up to personal tastes. For example, I am almost exclusively a maduro/oscuro/ligero smoker...a really big fan of stout, full-flavored cigars. There are so many concoctions and blends it can be very confusing and expensive for the new cigar-smoker to find, much less settle on a "favorite" cigar. CAO kicks arse...Vintage, Gold, Black, VR, Italia, America, Brazil and Criollo...anyone would be well served to dabble around in CAO's offerings. I don't know why, but I think that the CAO Criollo Pato is an amazing cigar for "rookies" or "veterans"...It's nowhere close to what I personally look for in a cigar, but I seem to smoke a fair share of them. I have been to several cigar "get-togethers" in Atlanta and Miami where Rocky Patel has been one of the "cigar celebrities" and I have to agree with KyleJ for the most part...RP's personality is somewhat abrasive, almost rude. Rocky Patel does however produce a few standouts: The Edge (My father swears by these. Cigar smoker for 35+ years), Triple Maduro (I like with some additional aging) and the 95-rated Decade Torpedo (When taken care of...absolutely one of the best cigars ever made).
Gurkha- YES!!! My favorite cigar company of all time. Gurkha's Triple Ligero is my #1 favorite cigar, and it recieves my highest recommendation for anybody that smokes cigars (from the "cigar-curious" to the most seasoned veteran/snob)lol. Gurkha is a little pricey and they put out entirely too many different lines but they are all, at the very least, some of the highest quality 'gars out there. I've got a box of 1948 pre-embargo Cuban Gurkha Robustos with a shaggy foot...I've smoked two of them since I purchased the box in 2001 and they are SCARY-good!
Punch- This is a good choice for new smokers, great prices and quality. Can't go wrong with a Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild. The Rare Corojo line is right up there on my list of faves. If anyone else has experienced a Punch Rare Corojo can they verify what smell they get from an unlit stick? I swear they smell like a large, steaming pile of dog-skit! VERY offensive, but once you lite one up they regain their dignity. Some of the thickest and creamiest textured smoke I've ever experienced...delectable.
Perfectos are what I visualize when I hear the word "cigar". Robustos, I think, are the guage by which all cigars can be compared...not too long to lose interest in, and the perfect ring-guage range to ensure the highest quality of flavors. Robustos, perfectos, torpedos and salomons are the only sizes I prefer.

Tatuaje is another great line of cigars. Very flavorful, and beautiful construction from what I've seen and experienced. Pepin Garcia's Esteli factory is on my short list of travel destinations...as previously stated I am a Nicaraguan Nut. I used to live in Costa Rica, so I am well-experienced in Central-American countries, all of which are some of the most beautiful places on earth. Wouldn't it be nice to have the newly-formed ICMag Cigar Aficionados club meet up in Nicaragua or the Dominican Rep. to tour some of the local cigar plantations and factories whilst sharing and sampling cigars and Cannabis? I can dream right?

There is nothing wrong at all with Camacho cigars, especially their Triple Maduro. As far as cigar "potency" goes, I think Camacho may be King of the Hill. They are like a smooth-sanded two-by-four repeatedly bludgeoning you across the back of the head. Camacho has on several occaisions made people "white"-out or turn green. Definately not for the weak of stomach or people prone to migraines...Camacho cigars should be on a list of triggers for migraines...lol.

Wow, I just now realized how long this post is...sorry for rambling.

More, more.

Be good buds.

I should be going to Pepins new factory this spring break or summer. I am setting it up with Pete. Nicaragua is a beautiful country, I wish I could go there before the Feb - March harvest. Plants are around 8ft tall before they are harvested and walking through the fields is an experience. When I am in Little Havana, I am constantly at factories, smoking and testing out and blending new things. But if you were going to grow Cannabis in Nicaragua, I suggest Jalapa. The soil there is so unique compared to the other growing regions of Esteli and Condega.

Lil Tiger - nice post bro...I agree with what u said as well... I just lit up my first CAO Brazilia, and it was beautiful, been holding onto it for 2 months waiting for the right time to dedicate to it...Its a beautiful day here, kinda cold but sunny and nice so I just sat out by the water with my dogs and enjoyed a great cigar...Im gonna lite up a Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short story later for before dinner...can't wait!! smoked one a few weeks ago and was an instant convert, I love Fuente cigars...Gonna have to try Tatuaje and I have yet to try Pepin Garcia, but I hear they are great...
One comment on ur style...how can u smoke a triple ligero and still stand, they are so strong for my tastes...I tried to smoke a Flor Dominicana Double Ligero a while ago and I felt it so much in my gut I had to put it down after like 10 minutes!!! It tasted delish but way too strong and peppery...Maybe after my palate develops a bit more...anyhow, now im ramblin!!! Peace all

a close friend who passed recently was big into cigars. He was a boxer in Nj back n the day (40s). I miss ol' grandpa! But I know he is up there puffin some nice stogie with all his old friends. Funny thing about granpa though...he never drank water...ever.....the only thing he ever drank was coffee. Still he lived to be over 90. Funny how a guy full of tobacco and lack of water still managed to live how long he did. He liked watching friday night fights too!

Pulled a Cohiba Gran Reserva from my box today for later. Very "cake" taste to them. Although they could have done a better wrapper choice these bare the "Gran Reserva" second band and have the price tag to follow.

Hey all...just wanted u all to know I smoked a NUB Cameroon this morning on my drive to work and I have to say I was very impressed...very tasty cigar with a smack in ur face pepperiness for the first few minutes, then it turns into a beautiful, nutty, toasted cashew and almond bonanza with a very nice spice on the exhale...YUM, already ordered more from my cigar site...
After work, on my way home, I smoked a CAO Italia Piccolo, my last one and it reminded me why!!! Such a tasty stick with lots of pepper, coffee, leather and something I can't quite place, but I love that cigar, got more of tose as well in the robusto size...anyhow, its too cold outside now to smoke anything before I goto bed, so Itll have to wait till morning....Hmmm, what to smoke for breakfast!!!! Maybe a Fuente Hemingway Short story??? Gnite all

Peace

I like Sam(Nub creator), really chill guy, very passionate. Im not a fan of the Nub, because I look like an idiot with it hanging in my mouth.

Padron 64 Maduro is a classic. Jorge and Orlando are great people, I love seeing them. Gotta love Padrons fields in Condega, gives it that coffee and cocoa flavor that is a true Padron.

This is great guys!

Here is my top 5 favorite cigars that are still commercially available:

#3 - Diesel Unholy Cocktail (VERY difficult to put my finger on or describe flavors, but strong, stout and scrumptious)

#4 - Padron 1926 Maduro No.6 (similar to the '64 but definately its own cigar entity)

#5 - Rocky Patel Decade Torpedo (I've only smoked three, so I can't really recall specifics...only that I subconciously look for them everytime I am somewhere that sells cigars)
