I bought a new Nikon Digital SLR and thought I'd give it whirl.

Here are some photos of a couple of plants which are finishing up their last week in the veg cycle (20/4).

Looks very nice and organic! Gotta love having healthy plants from a healty soil! I saw your nute mix today and i wish i had access to some of that stuff. I'm stuck with epsoma Starter Plus and Rainbow mix for dry fertz. I really like the epsoma but i think the key to a good plant is variation of nutrients with a wide array.

Beautiful CC!

You know, I've realized that over here people only belive pictures. For some reason they speak, while a thousand good words only count against you and what you believe in.

So keep em coming!

Not really. On the one plant you'll see that I use a commercial product as 'kind of' a SCROG set-up - that's because this specific plant is EXTREMELY brittle, i.e. very, very woody. Old, old genetics dating back to 1971 when I first acquired this seed lot from the BOEL out of Laguna Beach.

By holding it down in the veg cycle I can reduce damage to my plant by not having extremely long, BRITTLE, stems when moving them from the flowering room to the hydration station that I've set up to water and apply foliar sprays.

On that plant that has the 'LST' device I generally pull 4-4.5 zips per plant.

On the darker plant which doesn't require this device I generally pull 3.5-4.0 oz per plant.

Not the biggest yields compared to what other's brag about but I'm satisfied with the final end product/medicine.

I only grow 5 plants (though I'm allowed 6 plants under Oregon's MMJ law (OMMP) because I'm too stupid to figure out how you get 6 plants under a single light. I can figure out how to do 5 plants (the face on a pair of dice) and I know how to 3 plants. I know how to do 4 plants or 2 or even 1 plant but the 6 plant paradigm escapes me. I'm old and stupid I suppose.

The light that this was grown under is a 400 watt HPS running a CMH bulb - best investment that I've EVER made with regard to hardware. I also only use P.L. Light System's fixtures which I purchased in 1987.

Yep - I'm old and stupid.

LOL

I bought my very first Nikon [the (in)famous Nikon F1] back in 1970 at Tokyo's Ginza district on leave from the Vietnam War. I still own that camera and still have the original receipt (listing the body's serial number as well as the lens serial number), owner's manual, original case, etc. It's probably had less than 20 rolls of film go through this camera.

I have 4 different Leica M-3 bodies from that era as well as couple of Rolliflex (sp?) bodies which use the 2.25 x 2.25 film (medium format) as well as 2 antique Hasselblad cameras.

And I'm a certified ACE (Adobe Certified Expert) in Adobe Photoshop as well as Adobe Illustrator.

BTW - NONE of these photos were 'enhanced' in any way. Period.

What you see is what I'm getting.

For folks who live in areas where agriculture isn't a big industry meaning that you don't have access to 'real' soil amendments then what I would recommend that you head over to a grow store and purchase as many 'fertilizer' mixes that they carry and when you get home mix them all together. Dry fertilizers = dry fertilizers.

There isn't a dime's worth of difference between a Fox Farm dry fertilizer mix vs. a Down-To-Earth dry fertilizer - in fact both companies source their 'base ingredients' from the same source, i.e. Wilbur-Ellis

Not all that complicated actually.

I write scripts for Adobe Photoshop using their SDK application in conjunction with AppleScript (much like VBA in the Windows OS, i.e. Visual Basic for Applications). I'm kinda/sorta involved in working with pre-press applications using Adobe Photoshop, Nikon Capture, etc.

I've been learning out the ins-and-outs of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.x and using AppleScript to move photos from the initial download from a flash drive (generally CompactFlash cards - SD cards require a different paradigm that I'm not interested in learning as it applies (pretty much) to lower-end the so-called 'pro-sumer' levels of camera equipment.

I've been working with Scott Kelby of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals on developing a work/sync process for commercial printers to accept the actual photos and be 'corrected' using the various Photoshop filters, i.e. Unsharpen Mask, Levels adjustment, etc.

One thing for sure is that Adobe Systems has one hell of an SDK for this process of developing 'macros' as well as scripted adjuncts to the process of preparing photos for press/web uses.

Fun stuff, IMHO

Lookin real healthy and dialed in there CC! Did I ever tell you my plan about using some homemade tomato cages in smart pots?

Scrog screens might be a good enough reason for me to put my cabinet saw together :dance013: Your finesse is evident in the leaves.

Would love to hear more about your strain from or anything about the BOEL.... que? :listen2:

I still have my minolta x700 and my cannon A2 with that huge side grip auto.... pro0sumer cannon G2 (mint) lol...relics. We were all set to pull the trigger on a DSLR but bought a Panasonic Lumix P&S 10mp with leica glass to get us through a quick trip. We found that we take around 2000 shots on a 3-4 day trip because it's right there in my pocket.

Why do you feel the CMH is the bee's knee's?

On the 6 plants 1 light..... the simple answer is usually the.... 6 plants holding hands around 1 light.... warms the heart. ;)

I'm very interested in what these 1971 strains are called, actually any strain linage info would be interesting as it relates to that strain....or any other as far as i am concerned.

Was this group involved at all with the Hari-Krishnas?

I remember LB was filled with them when i was young and hanging out in Laguna on weekends, hear they were 'special' to the inside trade.

There was a book "brotherhood of eternal love" IIRC in 1984 which was removed and lost in time, replaced with a similar but i am sure different info, collectors item now I'm sure.

Interesting you would bring up the Hari-Krishnas......back in the day in Hermosa Beach, the Krishnas were quite active in the MJ counterculture. They used to have quite a handle on the Thai Sticks IIRC. Oh and of course, the incense sticks.....

The specific plant strain that I posted (i.e. the dark green plant) is from Afghani seeds from the Kandahar region in Afghanistan. It's never been crossed - ever. This specific 'cut' was and is widely available in the Laguna Beach growing community though my 'name' attachment ended years and years ago. Around Laguna Beach it goes under several name like 'OPH' and 'Laguna Canyon Primo' and a couple of other names that I would rather not post on this venue as the specific names could and might cause problems for a couple of individuals long associated with the BOEL

The other plant photo that I posted is a hybrid of a pure sativa (from Africa) crossed with a Pakistani hash plant from the same people, i.e. the BOEL and the specific phenotype goes back to the African roots (i.e. lots of sativa in this hybrid) resulting in the 'lime green' color on this plant. This strain is VERY psychotropic whereas the pure Afghani is definitely 'stoner pot' - good for pain management as I have spinal cancer and suffer from extreme pain. This is the only medicine that relieves my pain and does so very quickly and effectively.

Tomorrow I'll post some photos of a 'Lambsbread' strain out of Jamaica, circa 1981 that I grow. Stlupid flowering times (19 weeks+) that is 100% sativa - very introspective and delightful. A great strain for doing artwork, thinking, writing, etc. but without the expected 'stone' as it were. This strain is definitely my favorite when I'm in a 'right-brain' deal. This is - without a doubt - the finest 'creative pot' that I've experienced in 44 years.

Peace

That sounds majestic. I am looking forward to pics. A sativa of that caliber-- well worth the wait, IMO.

I've seen it posted before but can't stand radio XD Wish there was a transcript. Watching the DJ try to deal with Coots tendancy to ramble was cute.
