Hi folks, I found a 13watt daylight CFL last night here at my house. (My wife had it in the bathroom,lol). I have a cab with 6 rooting clones, 1 seedling and one large veging mom under a 2ft fluorescent (20wx2). The fluorescent does a good job for veging. But I plan on upping the light as soon as I get the extra cash and makeing a second cab. That way I have one for flowering and one for veging clones.

I want to flower out my veging mom, shes just takeing up to much room in my cab. Shes about 2 & 1/2 ft tall and 2 1/2 ft wide..I have LSTd the hell out of her for a scrog grow but I dont have any sort of screen up yet and I am running out of space. But when I flip the switch I dont have any place to veg my clones or my new seedling. So I am thinking about takeing a old speaker cab and turning it into a small veg chamber or prehaps a mom chamber.

My question is would the 13w CFL be an ok light for a small clone/veg cab, would it do the trick untill I can get better lighting? Or should I just add it into my other cab? I know its a small light but we all work with what we have,lol.

This is the CFL I have.

I use a 8W PL-L table light for rooting in 24/0...

I really like that dome. If I do make a clone chamber you have inspired me to build a dome inside my speaker box so I dont have to mess with zip lock baggies. :)

Cheers, this Joints for you --> :joint:

I said add it to the two footer. What I meant is take it back and get some 23's. Why roll on some 13's when you can be pimpen with some 23's yo?

hey sick, I vote for small clone chamber. I'm currently using 2 13 watt cfls for my mini veg chamber. I have 2 plants(about 5 inches tall) , 3 rooted clones, and a mini greenhouse that holds up to 10 cuttings

Good luck and stay safe:dance013::smokeit:

But your time isn't. Why not just use something that you can get reliable results from. I mean yeah you can use that sort of thing for cuttings. Why not just leave the bathroom lightbulb in the bathroom and raid sale racks and discount stores for your grow bulbs. Then get a brighter bulb that is in the correct spectrum for exactly what you need and hasn't already suffered lumen degradation.

dude cfls are powerful enough to keep seedlings and clones alive

Yeah but a 13watt? I mean I know that at first they don't need much light, but isn't it less of a pain in the ass to have your chamber rigged so that you can manipulate light levels so that the same cab can be used for more than just keeping cuttings alive in the beginning?

Because I dont have money for lights right now so I do with what I have. I plan on getting better lights and getting things all set up with alot of lumes and watts, right color spectrums, air filters and fans. But right now I dont have any money to spare so if a junkie little 13w CFL will help my grow efforts then yes, I am going to use and I'll be happy to have it.

I'm not knocking your efforts. If you guys have anything like Big Lots or even better a really shitty redneck hole-in-the-wall version of Big Lots, then you'ld be supprised how much usefull shit that you can pick up for dirt cheap. Also you can take the sockets off of most lamps pretty easily. So even garage sales can sometimes be usefull. I am only saying something because I am in a similar boat. Good luck growing herb and your finances.

lol thats what I did. I had an old lamp that I took apart. I now have the little CFL in the cab hanging down low to give light to my sprout and cuttings that I have lined up. They seem to be happy with it so I'm happy.:biggrin:
