What's new

Just curious...

Yes, I am new to growing but I have done alot of homework on these forums and I know I have done things wrong starting out but I believe I'm on the right track now.

That being said; a few months back I popped some bagseed. I put them all in a 3 gallon pot and vegged for a few weeks. I transplanted 2 small ones into their own containers. The four remaining I flipped to 12/12 for sexing. After a couple of weeks I pulled 2 males and let the other 2 females fly. They have been flowering for 8 to 9 weeks or so and this is what I have...

I plan to re-veg for clones if the smoke is OK. What worries me is the larger of the two, down under the fan leaves is the cola which is the size of a 12 oz soda can, very dense. Not a lot of trichs but the overall consistancy is like a gluey coating. I've read all the drying and curing post but that nug worries me with possibly getting mold inside. The trichs are almost all cloudy, can't see any amber.

Great looking plant...as for mold...whilst it is growing and while drying, check it daily for grey or tan or brown spots appearing...excise any you see.

When you harvest, separate the buds from the stem for drying..

Keep humidity as low as possible this close to harvest.

good luck...nice buds!

This is one I LST'ed and is now 4 weeks in flower and the trichs are almost all cloudy. The buds smell just like a red grapefruit.

Thanks for the comments medi and cheese. These will be my practise runs before I order seeds. Of course, if any of the bagseed plants I have now are good enough, they will be kept.

I'm still unsure about the big cola I'm about to harvest. Do you break the cola apart to dry or leave it intact? Again, it is very hard and dense and has the demensions of a 12 oz soda can.

Man that is some nice bagseed.

In the future though, you probably want to make sure 1 plant per pot. It is overall safer for the health of the plant, especially when dealing with different strains/phenos.

Everyone harvest differently, do what is good for you. I usually hack the whole plant and dry it whole. Very large colas can dry unevenly, so sometimes I do break them into more manageable pieces. Hop over to the harvest section and read up.

Looks like you're off to a great start Buddy!! Congrats on the first time harvest!!! You're going to love this fruitful hobby!!! You can always break apart the buds into similar sized nugs and dry them on some sort of screen mesh or wire mesh...

Thanks bob and Tex! Yeah, 1 plant per pot, I'm just letting the 2 I first started finish up.

Does anybody know the strains that have a grapefruit smell? I'm hoping it's a good one. The seeds were always from killer smoke.

I thought I would show everybody the way I check the trichomes

Just mounted a clamp light handle on an adjustable stand...very stable viewing especially at 100x +

Can someone clarify?

Can someone clarify?

I guess I'm a bit nervous but I went ahead and cut the large top cola of my first plant. The trichs are mostly cloudy with some amber.

What worried me was that the cola was so thick and dense and it has always had a skunky cat piss ammonia smell. So I cut all the buds away from the cola for observation. From all I have read and pics I've seen, It doesn't look like mold or rot...but this is new to me. Can the light color be just where the light doesn't penetrate? Comments are appreciated.
