It seems that we are divided on the issue of legalization.

I would simply like to point out that there is more than one option when it comes to legislature.

Decriminalization means that there would cease to be penalties associated with cannabis, and that we could manage production and prices in the same fashion as we always have.

I support decrim over regulation. I have never agreed with anything this country does involving our cherished herb. I don't think I want Monsanto or ADM to handle my cannabis.

I would love to see at least one other person who is wary of what the government will do when/if legalization means regulation...

I fear that rushing into legislation and drawing lines will ultimately screw us in the end.... without having a segment of time while herb is decriminalized to adjust exactly how our legislation should work.

Please be aware that I'm not speaking of lessening, but abolishing penalties associated with marijuana use, sales, and cultivation.

Exactly Mean Mr. Mustard! People need to really read AB390 if they live in California and vote. The bill is complete bullshit!

Ever look at "merp" ?? It is a website for the re-legaliziation. Search for merp it came up as the 6th or 7th thing in my search.

They have some great points towards it.

Agreed, decrim would be better than legalization. No more arrests is always better than government regulation and taxes IMHO.

I agree with your assessment. We should demand our rights to be acknowledged and respected rather than making compromises with prohibitionists. There should be neither criminal nor civil penalties associated with cannabis use or cultivation for personal use. When it comes to commercial sales and cultivation, I think there should be regulations to ensure consumer safety through standardized quality controls as in any other industry. Although, that last bit would be part of "exactly how our legislation should work".

If I felt selfish, I'd vote decrim. If I wanted to better the country as a whole, legalization.

Legalization means there's taxation involved. Very good for the government.

Decriminalization ONLY!!!

Last thing we need is a bunch of mass produced chemically grown weed being sold in every store not to mention fuck uncle sam and his taxes........

Decriminalize and most people will be able to grow or procure reasonably priced erb without Corporate or government interference

Decriminalization means there is no criminal penalty, but there may other penalties, such as a fine.
At least that's how many states laws seem to operate.
I do favor decrim myself, mostly because it seems a more obtainable goal in the near future
I know many of us want the 'no laws on cannabis', that would be great
but realistically, it's not going to happen , not in any near term sense

Wow, how in the word would you talk the majority of the people into your version of 'decriminalization'? Why waste time fantasizing?

Why is it that you want to prevent corporations from offering a product? They offer people a choice. If enough people choose their product and find it useful then they're successful. I just don't get the animosity toward the entire concept of corporations that seems to pervade some people's thoughts. Frankly I'd rather buy corporate produced than cartel produced.

To me decriminilization is a divide and conquer issue, much like med pot. I don't see the plant as so insidious that it should only be reserved for for the very ill or just for possession. I also don't think decrim is truly that. It will be decriminlaized only to a degree, as it will be followed by certain rules or reestrictions. Many times when I hear of decrim for med for instance, it is always follwed by harsher penalties for everyone else. Same for public decrim, its generally about decriminalizing possession and again back to bigger fines and penalties for dealers and growers. You can possess but not produce or acquire. If it can't be completely legal I say I like it the way it is. Just my opinion. Peace GS

some people have this thing against corporations because of names like Monsanto. just find the facts on their herbicides like 'round-up' or their introduction of genetically modified soy to places that have suffered ecological disasters due to it.

the best is to grow your own, neither cartel nor corporation, choosing between the less of two shits don't mean you don't end up choosing shit anyway.

Because they cannot be trusted! Look at the tobacco industry(which I imagine would take over the erb scene if legalized) majority of packaged smokes you buy now days is mostly paper, with tobacco juice and an endless array of chemicals sprayed on it to make it less harsh and get nicotine into your blood faster.

Decrim
If it was legalized every idiot would be doing it.
Alot of people are too stupid to understand decriminalization and still think there might be some risk associated with it and or taboo/ social stigma.

issue is moot for those in cal especially in light of kelly decision affirming what we all knew about s.b.420 and thegroups and people supporting it: unconstitutional so we already have legalization in cal.

Have you read Decrim laws though? They don't match your definition.

The Decrim laws I've seen all center around decriminalizing possession of small amounts while growing and distribution still carry prison time and other penalties.

i used to dream of pot being legal, now i believe that legalization would be harmful. the laws could be written to where adults could buy seed & clones legally, & grow it legally. but as a completely legal product, i'm afraid that big business would snuff out the incredibly diverse varieties available now, in favor of some homogenized crap that they grew in endless rows year after year. sell permits(CHEAP!) for home growers, eliminate penalties (ALL penalties) for possession, & come up with a workable test for intoxication so ripped drivers would still taken off of the road, & businesses could stop piss testing the employees that DON"T come in stoned. the others are EASY to spot...:whistling:

It's called a Field Sobriety test and a Competency Review. If you fail one you go to jail... if you fail the other you lose your job.
WTF does drug testing have to do with performance?
