Ahem... occam's razor. They are root bound already.
I believe you are correct sir! We pulled on of the cron seeds and took a few shots of the roots. The bind isn't bad yet, but they still need transplanted. Most likely tomorrow we will go ahead and transplant all the girls to there final grow containers.

Glass always remember that growing MJ is much easier than tomatoes. to many cooks will forsure mess up sumthing..dont stress it man..next time they dry take 1 out of 16 oz cup easy and see if there root bound. simple as that.if they are, dont wait for sex, plant it rite away, and water em in..DR can take alot of abuse.. i have 2 BS that have now been transplanted 3 times..kinda wish i handnt of done the one, it is now at 32" ..It dont take a rocket scientist to grow MJ if it did then they could grow it on the moon..lol..yes ive grow a few outside but never anything inside. so.if i can do it i know u can bro .. bro it shows my last post at 3 days ago..can u see any new post after 1-22 on my thread at all? should be a few pics....
Very Very True bro. There are so many ways to grow this stuff everyone is bound to have an opinion. I'm not a n00b to gardening, so hopefully transplanting them won't be too bad, I just hate to waste the soil on males, know what i mean :dunno:

Anyways, I'll post more pics in a few days after we transplant and the girls recover fo sho :smokeit:

Yea i know what u mean.fox farm dirt is very high $$.wishing i wuda put all my girls in bigger pots...im changing dirt after this run.. repotted the 2 female BS , the tallest 1 is potted in bacto potting mix $7....4 a 50 lb bag , then mixed 50/50 with premium peat moss, and it wont stop growing....good luck and stay safe

I hear the bigger container thing. We are going to be running a total of 16 plants until we sex so there is no way to fit in containers bigger than 2liter bottles. I really think grow bags would be nice, 1g bags would probably be perfect. Oh well, we will live with what we have.
I really like the FFOF and the seeds seemed to do great in it. When we checked the roots tonight I was amazed to see how quickly they had grown into the entire cup. I totally underestimated how fast that would happen. Also, I think I caused the yellowing by putting to much perlite in the bottom of the cups. I wanted the bottom part to drain well, but I didn't realize I had taken up a 1/3 of the soil space in the cups :dunno: Live and learn!

Really though, Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm always willing to listen to a point of view.

Just a quick bump for tonight. Finished transplanting. We were also easily able to sex the DR's today. The count is 3 girls, 2 boys and one boy with teeny nuts just starting I think, but will keep an eye on. All the females were transplanted into final containers. Only 4 ER's came up, so if we can't nurse the 5th one up we will end up with just 7 auto girls...

You can use 2liter drink bottles with the labels left on to protect the roots. Just go ahead & poke some holes in the bottoms. They will sit up off the floor just enough to ensure good drainage. At the same time, the footprint is not much larger than your beer cups, but does not taper toward the base, so you have more room for roots. If you wanna know what's going on underground, you have only to peel back a label & look. Be sure to replace it.

Add a bit of Epsom to your dirt mix & mix that perlite into the soil. I used about 1/3 perlite to total soil volume, as it ensures good oxygenation of the root zone!

Hey Goat!
We actually are using 2-liters for our final grow containers. I just wrapped them in ducktape because I wasn't sure the labels would be enough to protect the roots. As for drainage all of our stuff sits on a rack that is ~1 foot off the bottom of the shower. We did this to allow our intake to be directly below the plants, and so we could fit a humidifier underneath and in the box.

What does the Epsom do for the soil? Does it help buffer PH or just act as a long term food?

Thanks for stopping by dude!

Hey Everyone

Just a single pic update today. All the girls are doing well, Final count is 3 DR women and 4 ER gals :) We also have 3 bagseed and 2 reg fem seeds running in the box.

Hey Everyone! Time for the weekly update :smokeit:

Day 21 Shots:
In the group shot the front three are DR's, the back three are the damaged bag seed...

Also, we are keeping 2 male DieselRyders for the pollen, gonna try and get some more seeds for the next run. We would go for fem seeds, but that normally leaves the bud un-smokable so we are gonna wait till later for that.

The DR's are now starting to get TigerBloom added to there normal feeding. We are also giving them Maxicrop once a week and superthrive twice a week. We had to stop feeding with molasses because our spider mite problem would not go away while we were using it. Anyone have a good solution for a Cal/Mag substitute that would be easy to find at Lowes, etc? I can get "CalMag", but it requires driving to a store that is 1 1/2 hours away... kind of a long trip for a $20 additive...

Anyways, the plants don't seem to be doing bad, but they do still show a little yellowing around the edges. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The girls do seem fairly healthy for a first time run though, so we aren't complaining!

Thanks for stopping by!

doesnt look like nute burn to me since, it's turning yellow not brown, not that it won't be brown soon if it don't get some nutes

Well, I hope its not lack of nutes cause I've been giving them a pretty steady supply of the fox farm stuff. I think quite a bit of it is stress from heat, we had a fan failure and I think that may have caused a bit of it.

Glass bro...I can say that several on my leaves look the exact same as those..However they didnt show till later in life..The first time i used maxicrop, it only got worse..Not saying that is what caused it, cause i dont know forsure..I added sum epsum salt and dolo lime..It seemed to help some.Hope u get it em' strait..stay safe bro

Ive had the same problem, caused by heat... Fixed it by getting the heat back to normal and then stabilizing the PH that got way to low and locked out the nutes because of the heat... If you already fixed the fan problem i would check the PH and get it back to the right level, maybe hit them with some epsom salts as well. Mine lacked sulfur after the heat problem and the salts helped the little once back to normal real quick..

Good luck amet and stay safe.

Hmm, Well I'll check the PH some more. It had been running high (~7.2) so I was hoping that I could bring it down a little. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

GH - Sorry, gashed a finger & it's hard to type.

I would add a tablespoon of Epsom salts to each gallon of water until the leaf colors stabilize. It's that easy.

Also, when transplanting, water well the day BEFORE, so the roots/soil come out nicely. If you sprinkle a couple pinches of powdered gypsum on top of soil in the new pot before transplanting, you will be rewarded with explosive root growth within a couple days... Gypsum also stabilizes cal/mag & balances the plant's water intake.

BTW - I'm a dudETTE, not a dude... ;P

Cheers.

Dudette!! :spanky:

Damn, my bad for real goat... We already transplanted the girls, but I did water the day before and day of. All of the transplanted girls seemed to take off immediately, so I'm thinking they love the extra space :smokey:

So I have the epsom salts now that I'm going to start feeding with the watering, How much/often do you guys put in per gallon??

Here are some day 25 pics of the DR's. They are really starting to flower fantastically.

And just for fun... Our friday night 1/8er!

I'll have the 4 week update on Tuesday!

Glassholer - If they're looking bad, I use a handful of Epsom to a 5-gal bucket of water. Water them well with this every 3 days.

Then, use it in your daily water at the rate of 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon... with & w/0 ferts.

Or, you can sprinkle the ES (about a t-spoon) around the plant on top of soil & just water it in...

Won't burn anything, but go slowly until you can see improvement in the plants. Good luck!

BTW - no worries re the "dudette" crack... As long as you don't think my being goat herd queen means I'm a gay man in drag...
