the interior dimensions are also different if i am not mistaken, giving different lengths of distance the light has to travel before hitting the reflector. this although not a significant difference is a difference none the less. they will each have a unique footprint and sweetspots or hotspots.
without first checking reference i think the 8" is a touch taller and longer. not much, but a touch.
edit. quick check the 8" is longer, wider and taller.
6"= 32.5L x 26.25 w x 7.75 tall
8"= 38.5 L x 29.5 w x 9.5 tall
i recently went from one 6" hood in a 4 x 8. to 2 - 8" hoods per tent. more coverage.
the air looses momentum in the flex, bcuz its forced in a spiral motion. as apposed to straight sheet metal duct.
the 8" hood gives me a shit load of room to upgrade too.
I'm not finding any info online but my local shop has reflectors that size with 8" cooling but it's a cool tube inside of the reflector instead of having glass across the whole reflector? called halo or something like that......
Has anyone seen this? I'm looking at the magnum or these dunno which makes more sense.
The interior dimensions of the 6" xxxl and great white are the same but the xxxl has slightly elongated ducting connectors and is 1/4" wider. aprox 1/4" each side where the duct connectors are.
does anyone know which model was produced first? the prices from items manufactured in quantity do not always reflect accurate in terms of purchasing power on the buyers end. meaning they may have produced one before the other and that small difference in size was due to design change along the way. that great white 6" sure is a pain to connect ducting to, could that extra 1/4 inch be that much of a difference? maybe they got some complaints and changed it for the XXXL. i would still get the great white with the insert versus the xxxl 6" lol, i am a cheap bastard!
Upgrading poopy? If so hell yeah man! I am leaning towards the 8" simply because if I ever need the extra cooling boost its there witht he 8" fan, but its tempting to save some money on fans and hoods, since I won't need the best air cooling with AC. I am looking at buying 14 of these fuckers, OUCH!
if you have 14 reflectors, you are already running more than one 8 inch fan. you can always run multiple reflectors on one fan, but they do not always have to be in line. when you leave each reflector as an individual intake source as an example two 6" reflectors not run inline actually give 12" surface for intake lowering the static pressure and allowing plenty of airflow than keeping it on a single 6" tube giving intake.
those 8" reflectors would be good for vegging , what a footprint!
The Great White has a Dupont Type "R" powder coating inside that is 90.5% reflective . . . pretty decent "bang for your buck" compared the XXXL!
Anyone have an XXXL 6" model? If so, can you measure the outside width and length? I know the manufacturer states 32 1/2 long and 26 1/4" wide, but I'm on the cusp of that, literally, by 1/4", and wanted to be sure those numbers are DEAD accurate. Anyone who can measure theirs . . . I'd greatly appreciate it!
I plan on running each string of 3 refelctors with one 8" fan on the front, a 10" MX fan will be on the backend of all 4 strings. I will be running sealed with a good AC so most likely I will be turning the fans down to keep my temps high enough for co2.
hey PK you know what you are doing, it was not a jab at your design or anything. just did not want you to spend that amount of dough only for the extra duct size. those reflectors are not all that imo, for a sog they are ok but for trees stick with ssII or the 6" XXXL if this manufacturer is where you like to do business. plenty of other good reflectors out there also.
the light in that 8" will bounce around so much it is hard to believe it is actually better and worth that amount of money. about to put the ssII back in and use the magnum for veg, but the type of garden will determine the best reflector. your buckets are the shit by the way, rock the fuck on bro!
yea PK im upgrading everything this round and when i get the commercial spot ill be upgrading again to another 6-10 hoods i figured 8" over the 6" cause it just seems like it the right thing to do... i dont want to get the new spot and be like fuck i should have got 8" and then REBUY it all again.. lol
