I guess it depends on how far you let them go. I have had experience with trichs changing color after harvest and drying, and with them not. It may also be strain dependent. I usually leave them in the dark for 3 days and change will happen to the trichs then in my experience.

All I know is amber comes from your length of flowering, if to short minimal amber. I have also noticed the more amber the longer the high
Some people take down based on amber, they use a microscope to look at their plants and if under 30% it is way to early.
dats all I know

Well for the person that left me neg rep for my answer in here, eat penis. I have been doing this for longer than you have lived I imagine. Dont mistake my lack of "rep points" or posts here as a sign of a rookie that does not know what they are talking about. If you may, please tell me what part of my post is "wrong", and I can show you some pictures as to how this sometimes will happen. C-ya

Plants with mostly milky trichs are at peak THC production when you start seeing amber the THC is degrading, no point waiting for amber trichs since as mentioned they turn amber with a cure anyway (unless you really want to of course). I just smoked an 8 month cured joint of what was a very uppy but stupifying sativa and it had me glued to the couch thinking about a nap.
