Oooo, I am highly allergic to posion ivy and its everywhere around here, if ya get it wash the dickens out of it with dawn twice a day for 3 days, that works great for me.

To dig with, I use a very sharp shovel, either the medium size ones or the very short ones. Sometimes I'll bring a small spade/claw but I end up never using it.

Oh, yeah, a little tip, work on your knees, its much easier.

a good pick, shovel and gloves - Not home Depot or lowes junk!(shovel and pick)! try a hardware store with quailty handles!! i have laid to rest many shovels but now i just weld a metal bar at the end .......works but a workout

if you have the room to carry a shovel, take a tiller too. same aproximate size as a shovel but the grip looks like a T and the work end has a group of pointed slightly curved pegs. makes for easy digging after turning the topsoil and helps airate (sp) fluff your mix when you re-fill. still need a shovel, but this helps. +gloves for digging, but planting let your fingers have some fun

I agree with using quality tools as they pay for themselves. And don't be overly cautious carrying in a full size shovel/pick etc You're a rock hound remember? Grab a book on it and carry it with you. Leave the tools in a camo'ed stash, voila!

Fiskars and most garant shovels come with at least a 5 year, and fiskars is more of a lifetime warranty. Just remember to read the bold labels.

Badmf, i love you. I want to be a rock hound too. :joint:
