RIP Golden Gustavo

Cookie monster

Me and my 2 will say a few prayers for Gustavo, hurts like hell to lose a best friend but try and stay strong.

In a few years you 2 will meet again and never be seperated.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Good luck during this sad time, man. I lost my first-dog/best friend this year. It hurts just to think about it. People who don't know any better might think "it's just a pet", but they are nothing less than family. Now I'm gonna go bust a lung for our furry friends. Peace.

Smoke,I am so sorry you lost Gus.I like to think all our beloved animals are waiting for us in Heaven. I know your heart is broken. You will see that Gus will send you another dog. Don't know why, when or how,but that will happen. He will send you another that needs help and love from you.And you will know it.Gus really will never leave you, because you hold him deep in your heart and no one can ever take that away,my friend.:comfort:

Sorry to hear about your loss. It is amazing how sick pets never want to let their owners know that they are in fact sick, they try to hold on and be strong for "us" because they don't want to let us down. Him not letting on showed his love for you. He didn't want his father to be filled with worry. Truly mans best friend.

Darn hounds will get to you now. My oldest boy had to put down his dog, a 8 yr old GSD. I own his brother and my wife is so worried about the mutt for know good reason. Sorry to hear of your loss, because a good hound can't be replaced. Soon in a few months get a different dog not a replacement, a new dog. Gustavo can't be replaced.

What an awesome group of people you are. Being single, unemployed, and living far from what family I have left, it leaves one to deal with things pretty much on my own. So your supportive words are not lost on me. They hit the bullseye. Some make me lose it a little and cry but that is OK and I needed to flush the tear ducts as its been a while before this happened. There is a certain cleansing that comes from tears. They play their part in healing.

Of course Ive been on the phone all day yesterday with family and friends. Last night 2 friends came by and we spent the evening reminiscing about Gus and smoking out on some really outstanding outdoor skunk my nephew grew. Tipped the glass a few times to Gus. Thank God for friends, which includes you guys, and family.

Today I focus on the garden... I need to transplant the next crop into 1 gal pots. I am excited about my current grow. A really generous friend here on IC set me up with some elite clones a couple months ago, (my previous handle was Four2Zero) and I am about 5 weeks flower on Chem D, Purple Brolick and some of my own Sour D crosses. We are talking extreme stank. The Chem D really is starting to reek. Cannot wait to finally try this strain.

Thanks again to all of you.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, my dog is my best friend too. It sounds like you gave him a great life. We'll burn one and take our guy for a long walk in the woods for Gus today.

I hesitated about posting that poem, as I thought it might of been a little insensitive towards your emotions so soon. But I also agree that it is best to let greif out, and crying is the best way. I hope I did not upset you too much. I just felt you had too read it.

I was raised from childhood with golden retrievers by my side and still have one today...truly a loving and great breed of dog to have as a best friend. I'm sorry for your loss but know that gus lived the most perfect life a dog could live as your companion and he now rests peacefully without pain.
