Sorry to hear that bro. My dog was ran over and killed by a friend of mine last week in my driveway. She was fifteen years old and pretty deaf and blind but she had always gotten out of the way. She lived a very good long life. People on here can be very cruel so just ignore them.

Danimal, this shit happens - ITS NOT YOUR FAULT MAN!!

My neighbors dog is a maltese mix and it runs - FULL DAMN SPEED right when it gets out the front door (it listens to the owner but is kind of in it's own world) and it goes full steam at the hubcaps of cars when they drive down the hill. He got ran over.

My buddies boxer loved the garage and would get sad when my buddy would leave the house in his car and always used to walk around the car when he was reversing. Kind of like "NO, DON'T LEAVE or LOOK AT ME, PET ME". My buddy always had to tie him up and his wife would untie him when she woke up but one day his wife was out of town and he couldn't keep the dog tied up all day while he worked so he reversed out of the garage and - CRUNCH - ran right over the dogs front left foot and broke it from the elbow down.

Shit happens man, you don't mean to do it, if you meant to hurt your dog, you would have just taken the damn dog in the backyard and put a shotgun to its face. It's not your fault man!! The dog probably still loves you and doesn't know where the hell its at right now.

Thanks man
It was my other dog that really caused the accident ,when he tried to discipline the border collie , (he doesnt like it when she tries to herd cars ) anyway he kinda pushed /caused her to get under the wheel just as i started to pull forward. I got real lucky I was going real slow and stopped quick, another fraction of a second and I would have crushed her head.

thanks for the kind word everyone...even the reprimanders

Don't be too hard on yourself... This kind of thing happens. You're lucky u didn't loose ur friend.

I remember reading a story about a champion border collie with only one eye. The owner said that the dog lost his eye in a fight, but the interesting thing was that after the dog lost his eye, he really became a much better dog, having never won any herding championships before his accident. So hang in there.

maybe you should chain off your animal when you go piss to, you never know when the fucker might lick a socket and die! give me a break no animal should be chained up to be a pet. if it needs to be chained then its not really a pet.

The important thing is that your dogger is gonna be okay.
My doberman got out the other night and chasing him through traffic i visualized much worse things happening to him. Fortunately for him God favors the foolish sometimes, and I got him back in before anything bad could go down. Bet your dog mellows out a good bit after this....

damn fucked up! bet that vet bill is gonna make you think twice about doing that again. my roomie disiciplined his cat last month and ended up breaking his arm. its costed him almost 1000 bucks to get the cat fixed up. im sure he wont be hitting the cat anymore lol.

Yeah its an awefull feeling when you accidently hurt one you love so much....

It happened to me a couple of years back when I accidently ran over my female Rotts leg .....it's damn hot out where I live in the tropics and sometimes one or another of my dogs (and I have 6) get under my truck and dig a hole in the cool sandy dirt to shade them selves from the sun and sleep......they have plenty of other shaded places to rest including a purpose built dog house that's all screened, tiled and has a fan to keep them cool, plenty of space for a dog siesta there.....

My dogs are never chained up and they are not house dogs, so live outside on a 15 acre fenced in area, gated at the beach and road side.....

I was sleeping on a very warm afternoon(32 celcius) and my mobile phone woke me up to tell me that someone at the front gate needed my assistance urgently, so I jumped off the bed still a little sleepy and found the key to the truck and made haste to get in it, turn it on.... and drive off.....I was in such a hurry I forgot to check under the truck and as I pulled away I heard a big 'Yelp'.....and my heart almost stopped with grief when I realized that it was Sky the female Rott crying.....I stopped suddenly and quickly got out to see her crying and limping badly....I felt so bad, she was all freaked out but let me comfort her and I got one of my caretakers to get some ice from the fridge and put it in a tea-towel around the leg which didn't seem to be broken and luckily it was'nt.......she limped for 2-3 weeks on it but then was fine.......but man......did I ever feel bad......now I ALWAYS check thoroughly under the truck before taking off.....

....but as always accidents can happen......I feel for ya man...

8:00 am and I was already on my 3rd trip down the driveway!
I live in the country ,
Am I supposed to lock up 3 dogs , 3 cats , 11 chickens and the 7 kids every time I have to leave ???

I'm 40 and have had animals all my life ,never had one locked up or on a chain and this is the first time in 32 years of living at this house that this has happened

miss blunted ....nevermind

I understand you may not be able to put them up when you use your car....but man, most dogs can be trained to break habbits. Have you honestly tried to break her of it?

I have 7 pets, it's not like I don't have a giant heart for animals....so nevermind what....everyone feels bad for you, but it's not all about you, it's about your dog too...so I'm sure every animal lover wants your dog to always be safe and healthy.

I'd suggest buying a big old steak and cook it up medium rare, cut up pieces and feed it to her while you tell her it was a n accident. I guarantee you she will understand. Dogs have alot of complex feelings and she will probably love you even more now if you show her some lovin' I feel your pain man.

On a side note, Have you seen Avatar? Movie really makes you stop and think about animals and how we treat them..

Please put your doggies inside or in a kennel when you're coming and going....if she gets close to your tire, then she's always gonna be risking her life around your car. You ran over your dog's face....please don't let it happen again.

I know you didn't post this to be shamed by anyone, but you made everyone read the thread title, so you opened up the discussion...you'll hear more of it I'm sure. Sad mistakes happen, they don't have to keep happening.

C'mon Chica,...be easy on the guy. I am sure he has learned a lesson. I had a dog fall out of my truck once and was hit by a bus. I never let any dog in the back of my truck without being clipped in now.

Don't you think he knows that he ran over his dog's head?

I feel for ya Danimal. Lesson learned I hope she pulls through. A good lesson for your boy too!

looks like i'm gonna pic her up at 4:30 and I will post a pic
Awesome...She does not blame you I am sure. Someone gets extra petting from Daddy I bet though.

Me and my family were visiting the Sis and her Man. On Thanksgiving morn. my Bro-in-law was attaching the log splitter to his backhoe/tractor, I was cutting logs with a chainsaw, my son was in the area too. When Bro went to back up the tractor his Corgi had laid down under it. My sister happened to be watching from inside, front tire rolled right over his head, instant death.

Saddest holiday I've ever had.

I'm glad your dog will recover.

I have a pair of Aussie's...awesome dogs...too smart, I'll bet your kids love those dogs.

Give your dog a neck scratch for me.

Peace Out,
