they're a more mature plant and tend to be more potent.

The clone is the same age as the mother, and all of the genes are still there. I have never noticed a potency difference from a clone Vs. Mother.

I prefer both the same. I love to germ the babies, and watch them grow. I have a 2 year old mother that gives me lotsa love back from her cuttings. She is a monster producer, but I am about to finish her off in order to start a new mother of a new strain I am working on.

The only true 'vigor' comes from Hybrids, otherwise it is luck of the draw.

On my cabinet i prefer clones because dont need to sex them out and they turn a tad lower.
In a proper set-up seeds and clones.
On the big outdoors i would go for seeds any time

Genetic Drift could be a problem when using clones, haven't read much about it so I won't try and explain it hahaha. Just thought I would bring it to all of your attention.

Even though I weighed in pretty heavily towards seedlings last post, I thought of a few important points in favor of clones. Over the last 15 years, the culture of trading clones has become intense enough that certain 'elite' clones have been able to rise to the top through universal acceptance by commercial growers and consumers. 15 years ago, there were only a handful of really select clones, but now there are a staggering number, and many of them are exellent. I personally really appreciate the opportunity to have my local grow mates 'audition' various elite clones while I watch the shows.

I put down seeds as my choice but that's only because I can't keep even a cpl of clone mothers at this point in time let alone a whole stable. I am close to remedying the situation however as a friend of mine who has the capacity to keep up to 12 mothers at once has offered to take cuts of any special ladies I find when growing out seed. I'll continue to make my own seed from the strains I grow but I'll also be able to do a clone grow once every few grows. Hopefully that will keep me constantly stocked up whilst allowing me to continue growing from seed in order to make more seed, crosses and inbreeding. Overall though, clones are faster, more uniform and just outright easier to run than starting from seed.

Here's the way i would do it....

1. Buy 2-3 (10 packs) of some super dank strain
2. Plant all 30 seeds...throw out all males except for the 2 best
3. Find your 2 favorite female Pheno's
4. Dust the females with the males...thus making tons of seeds,so you don't have to
spend $$$ on seeds again
5. clone the hell out of your 2 keepers...and should something unexpecetedly happen,like
moving or security issues,you will still have the seeds to start over with.

I put clone, but there are plenty of good quality to seeds. It is with limited spaces for grow places that we make tuff decisions. Seeds are the reason we see such variety today.
However, I always am getting a different seed strain once a year and a few choice clones. But since light isn't free I have to use tried and true genetics.

I picked clones just because I don't like the idea of wasting time growing a male when all I want is bud not seeds but I really don't care too much about it because I can plant a seed just as easyily as I can plant a clone but I can never get the lumens nor the time I took to grow out a male when all I want is females so If I had to choose I would say clone that is why it got my vote

Well the question is very simple! What do u prefer to work with? seeds, feminized seeds or clones?

From what i read, seems like people prefer regular seeds but the votes show a diferent result, funny....

How appropriate this thread is for my first post. I love cracking beans! For me, the thrill of the grow is not running a predetermined clone thats been tried and true but rather looking for that special plant that comes from a bean. The rush I get from selecting is much better than being given an elite clone selected by someone else. However, clones do have their place and are an advantage in certain situations.

Work out the lines you want get hold of seeds take your seeds grow them out select a mum and dad make seeds store them cull male if you dont want him and keep the selected mum and take clones of her as you need you dont need that much space and lumes to keep a few mums around.

Clones do not loos vigor or potency over time or do they get better than the mum there taken from just keep them happy and healthy.

The last thing i would ever grow would be fem seeds and unless i knew the person and the clone that was being offerd i would avoid that to becouse what one person likes the other may not and well safety is also a big one.

Clones are great you put it in and you know what to expect at harvest like the old school genetics we once grew but you can loos clones to and why its a good reson to have your self a back up of a given genetic line in seed to be able to re find it or close to it if you loos a given clone why seeds are importent the way things are heading with fem seeds wont be to long down the road that reg seeds will be a thing of the past so more reson to start collecting and growing out selecting perent plants then breed your own and store refresh your seed stock every so many years.

So Reg seeds and clone from your own selections my pick and make your own seeds from your selections.

so i've just started to grow from seeds,since a kind friend offerd me his seedbay freebie sams sk1xhaze and fertility ssh...now im hooked on seeds.

I voted clones, but I use both clone and seeds. I never bought fem seeds though.

I tend to germinate around 50 seeds of a certain strain and grow them out. Cull the males and take clones of the females. From there I flower the clones which have been marked according to the mother taken from. When I can narrow down the plants I want to keep I throw all the unwanted mothers into the flowering room and start preparing clones from the desired mothers couple of weeks prior to harvest. Then its nothing but clones from that point on.

Never bought fem seeds and probably never will. Sprout the seeds, choose mothers, and then take clones to flower out. You might say I like both as long as I know where the clone came from.
