S&P TD160 (mixvent)

Trying to get a QUIET fan to pull through my 4" rhino pro 100/300 (formerly Phat) scrubber, quiet is paramount, doesnt have to pull loads of air as it's only a small growbox

will a S&P Mixvent TD160 4" pull through it? what else could i use?

yeah your on the right track with an s&p, i just rigged up a td-200 and it is really nice, i'm no sizing expert, but if your box is pretty damn small then maybe a td-125 would suffice

Are those available in the states? I did a google search & every shop that has them is in the UK.

These fans have a great rep for quiet, another to do some searches on here for your needs would be the panasonic whisper fans for bathroom exhaust.

My personal little jewel to help you with success is to buy a variac autotransformer to use to control the speed and noise level of the fan you choose. I use a larger fan than I need and dial it way down with the variac so it makes very little noise and still moves plenty of air.

We only seem to get TD160 and TD250 in the 4" fans in the UK.. they're the same fan AFAIK just the TD250 is the high powered version.

the 4" phat i had was way overkill for my box, so i sold it last night. I'm going to make a scrubber out of 2 4>6" reducers, about 2/3rds the length and half the carbon depth.

TD160 is 110m3/hr (65cfm?)@18dB, TD250 is something like 285m3/hr @ 31/34dB. I should have been thinking buy the TD250 and variac it, on the Phat i had because everyone said a 160 would be a very puny fan for that.. but on the scrubber i'm making i hope to make the TD160 be in its element - turned down or no, it doesn't really need it at 18dB. 65cfm for me is like 16 complete air exchanges per minute (not taking into account most of the airspace will be full of stuff) so i'm thinking that'll be more than adequate

Hiya CS,

The Panasonic Whisper is perfect for this situation. The fan is kinda costly, but it easy to make a scrubber for it. My 80CFM Whisper makes less noise than a 110CFM 120mm 12V PC fan dialed down to ~80CFM. Check out my thread for pics of it. It is not an inline fan so it might not be right for you, but hands down it'll make the least noise while removing all odor. They make a 50CFM model you might want to check out. 18 changes per minute should keep your cab temp the same as your ambient or a degree off.
