That is correct dongle69 - I think DG meant nutreints salts - not exudates. During Senesence a plant will slow it's relasioship with microbial life. This is done simply by limited exudates. The microbial life remains dormant until they recieve signals from the root system. This in part is responsible for the plant essentially eating itself. She limits microbial action hence limiting absorption. So Dg's "one way street theory" imho almost does apply later in flowering, under natural plant processes.

I flush every 4 to 5 weeks and it helps the plant regulate minerals. Especially I flush after the veg cycle just to use any excess nitrogen up. And I like to feed heavy using many products. Since doing so I have not had any real burning, taste... problems or nutrient locks. Do a full 14 day final flush for 10 week flowering crops, alternating between pure water and adding clearing solution from General Hydroponics.

I flush the last 10 days removing the resevior every 24-36 hours slowly bringing the ppm level down, It seems to work for me.

I run strait hydroton in a ebb & grow system

ML,

I've seen that documntary and find it interesting myself. I too agree, that plants may indeed, have a greater evolutionary power than we give credit. I do think the plant is the boss under almost all conditions. Even growing under conditions I think flushing could be beneficial. We are absolutely manipulated in a sense. I live and breath this stuff. The plant, being Cannabis of course, has definatly made me her servant - and alot of you, I'm sure.

Thanks for the tip regarding editing. Although I love to share the info, you are correct. I'm a grower - not a writer - I could use an editor. Thank you sincerely for taking the time.

Hopefully this post bumps this thread. This is not the big thread on EM. I'm still looking.

interesting and sorry if this is redundant or irrelevant, but is this similar to kombucha cultures? i am sure there are different bacteria involved, but I am knowledge-less in this area

Sweet, I'm glad you bumped this one, and thanks for finding the other one I overlooked. Do you think I could use the SCD plus that I have for human consumption/to feed to my dog? Or should I get the food grade one?

several years back i moved indoors and started growing in buckets and soil. when it was time to flush, i'd careful dig the plant out of the bucket and put it into another bucket ful of water that i'd change everyday for 7-10 days before harvest. then i discovered dwc and never went back to soil.

Many react differently to AEM ingestion. I use regular ag. grade EM but if you are concerned then get food grade. Start slowly (e.g. one teaspoon at a time) and begin your fermentations simply. Much of what is in Vinny's book can be found on his website and Yahoo discussion forums.

that WAS a long read!till the fans fall off? ok then, tell me how to flush. im in soil.

3 gallons water per 1 gallon soil.

Got a 5 gallon pot? Run 15 gallons of pH balanced wateer through it 2 weeks before harvest.

I don't care what anyone says, I notice a huge difference in flushed vs. unflushed bud, and the results are very noticable. I have a buddy who grows the same strains I do. I flush, he doesn't. People who smoke with both of us always prefer to smoke mine. The final product speak for itself.

In my opinion, anyone who says don't flush is talking nonsense and doesn't care about taste, harshness or quality. Not to mention potential health risks.
