As a hardcore coffe drinker, I think it's expensive and it leaves an aftertaste like burnt elephant turds wrapped in snakeskin. Now I'll really never go there.

I dont know.... snakeskin elephant turds are a little less bitter....

I pillage their coffee grounds, that's about it.
Their coffee is 10x better than DD's.
They're into fair trade. Quality coffee...doing good for the environment.

That sucks if they really are against MJ, we will have to set them straight.

But not all corporations are inherently evil...many are founded by very good people and grow on very good intentions..meh
I'd rather show support for good actions rather than throw hands up and walk away...if we just gave up we'd almost be assured to have many more inherently evil corporations...
It'd be nice to revert back to a more local way of living though .

Marijuana advocates: Boycott Starbucks
Seattle co. says effort is misguided

By CHRIS GRYGIEL
SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF

Proponents of legalized marijuana in Colorado are calling for a nationwide boycott of Starbucks because they say the Seattle-based coffee company supports an organization that is trying to thwart the use of pot for medical purposes in that state.

On Thursday a pro marijuana group held a news conference in front of a Denver Starbucks to draw attention to what it says are ties between the company and the Colorado Drug Investigators Association.

"It's no surprise that law enforcement organizations and their leaders -- whose jobs are dependent on maintaining the war on marijuana -- are lobbying to kill state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries. But Starbucks and other companies' funding of this war should strike any marijuana consumer or reform supporter as truly appalling. It's time to stand up and send them all a message," Mason Tvert, head of SAFER (Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation), said in a statement.

Starbucks says the effort is misguided. The company does not provide financial support to the Colorado law enforcement group, Starbucks said in a statement.

"This organization is apparently targeting us because a local law enforcement organization in Colorado posted our logo on their website. Starbucks has not taken a position on their issue," the statement said. "We have a tremendous amount of respect for the men and women of local law enforcement. However, we have not sponsored this particular organization through our foundation. It is up to the discretion of our local teams to support those groups that are relevant in their neighborhoods. Our stores often support organizations in their community by donating coffee for their events."

The Colorado Drug Investigators Association Web site, which apparently listed other national and Colorado companies besides Starbucks as backers, is no longer working.

This week the Washington state Legislature killed bills that would've legalized and decriminalized marijuana use in this state, however local voters may get a chance to weigh in on this issue this fall. Proponents of a citizens imitative that would ask state residents whether they want to legalize pot are trying to get enough signatures to put the question before voters in November.

How did this whole thing get started? My guess is that the manager of a local Starbucks decided to throw this group a couple of free coffees without checking with head office. I bet that manager was sacked about the same time the press release avowing no relation to CIDA came out.

But, you know, if you really need an excuse to boycott, I can see why you’d go with the knee jerk…

Starbucks kinda pissed me off when they said that they wouldn't send any coffee to the troops in the Afghanistan... something to the affect of them not supporting the war. Not that I am for the war in Afghanistan.... but sheesh.... whats wrong with sending our boys and girls some coffee? I dunno... what are ya gonna do?

I don't drink Starbucks as a rule because it's expensive and they tend to over-roast their coffee. I will, however, continue to buy Glocks as they are the best handguns I have ever owned.

I declared the boycott a success, but realized the TRUTH of the matter has yet to be revealed.

We don't know the type of contribution that was made.

We don't know who made it.

Until we do, and are assured it won't happen again, what have we really achieved? Yes, we helped unite and focus a protest on this site and others. We did get a response out of Starbucks corporate.

But has the situation changed for Colorado, who still has this group set to close down the dispensaries? No, not as far as I can see.

So until we get more answers and find out who is responsible for supporting the anti-mmj group, and what exactly they have contributed to this group, I for one am continuing to boycott them....

I'm all for boycotting any group that jumps on politics as a sideline for their product especially pot. I seen the Starbucks here and they still had lots of ppl in there so I'm not sure if the word is really out there or they were pot smokers lol , I drove past fast lol.. I let one club know they had no idea. Strange how ppl never know this shit.. Kotton Mouth Kings "I want to live in a free world !!!" peace out Headband707

What are you gonna do?
1st thing I did is research.
Starbucks has donated a total of more than 200,000 lbs of coffee to the American Red Cross for distribution to those troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.

I dislike Starbucks anyway. Where I'm from a lot of their costumers seem to be incredibly rude and snobby. I once had to verbally reprimand an old lady wearing a fur coat for insulting the spanish chick making her coffee. It was awesome she was so offended and she totally deserved it. Fuck Starbucks for many reasons.
