HGF Skunk#1 VS. TFD The Pure (Skunk#1) Comparison.

I got these during my search for a pure Skunk#1 to breed with my Skunk#1 1989 Mother Sativa Dominant Pheno. And to make a new breeding selection of the Pure Skunk#1 using old seed stock I was able to acquire. I have both Fruity Menthol smelling lines and the True Skunk that smells like gag inducing roadkill.

I just wanted to see how these 2 versions of Skunk#1 do and see if there is any breeding potencial in them. If not I will just work the old lines I have.

Strains:
Homegrown Fantaseeds Skunk#1, recent stock.
VS.
The Flying Dutchmen "The Pure"..aka Skunk#1. recent stock.

Seedlings under 4 ft 40watt flouros.
Veg under 400watt MH
Flower under 400watt HPS

Organic Foxfarm Ocean Forest potting soil, using my Organic TEA method.

So far a test germ with 3 HGF SK#1 and 2 TFD SK#1, got 100% success rate, will be germing the rest now. Right from the start you can see some variation between the 2 companies, Skunk#1. The 3 HGF showed some purpling on the tips on the new leaves and 1 has shown slight leaf whirling on the first true leafs, very uniform. The 2 TFD is very green with no coloring, perfect growth, and uniform.

I will keep this one updated to get some nice info on the 2 versions of Skunk#1 available today, not many reports on the HGF Skunk#1. So, I hope this thread helps others to get the correct Skunk#1 for the best results.

Thanks for the thread, I was alwasys wondering how my HGF skunk#1 would turn out and if they are in the same league as the pure. They are stock from '05 I think but were probably packaged well before then, shouldn't have any probs as they have been in the fridge with desiccant in the box to keep moisture/humidity down. I'll be glued to this one...

Just a quick update, these are the few I started awhile ago, 3 HGF Skunk#1, 2 TFD The PURE.


They are growing very well at day 20 from seed, very fast strong growth. Well by the pic you can see that the HGF SKunk#1 and the TFD The PURE differ from each other. It seems that the HGF Skunk#1 is the more indica dark green dominant version and they are very uniform showing little variation so far. The TFD The PURE is more indica/sativa hybrid looking and has much more stretching branches, small Christmas Tree shape. The PURE plants are identical in everyway. I will be planting 1 more HGF and 2 more THE PURE to have 4 of each for a better comparison.

I will update when the new sprouts are started.

the Hgf sk#1's are very dark and healthy Definitely lots of indica in those girls.....

as for the TFD TP they are very uniform looking from that angle and more sativa in those two plants also healthy and green..

I currently have TP in my collection and was also looking into HGF's version, im glad your doing a comparison grow on the 2 versions.....

ya i was very surprised that they look so indica, but they are on par with the rate of growth with The PURE. but no where near the amount of branching that The PURE has.

the skunk#1 1989 came from a breeder in BC, that found and made the selection from Skunk#1 in 1989, he then bred it out to stablize,, only crapy part is I didn't find a male in the few seeds I was given, DAMN! Here is a pic of her, Sativa growth patern but buds are harder then most indicas, very high flower to leaf ratio. I will breeder her to the best Pure SKUNK#1 males I can find,, well at least that is my goal. I have some old school Skunk#1 seeds I was able to accquire, germ rates are very low but I will get some to go.

Skunk#1 1989 Sativa Pheno, 48 days flowering, she will be done in 15-20days (9-10 weeks flowering). Sweet Menthol smell and taste. Amazing high! Breeding potencial is high!

Update, of the 2 early THE PURE i started both where males, they are still alive.
the 3 HGF started are female, These plants once they get established they grow over 1 inch a day and produce new branches all the way up at the top at a rate of a new pair every 3-5 days. I just took 72 good sized clones off of these 3 small plants!! They are BUSHES! no topping required.

I have 5 more THE PURE and 5 more HGF SK#1 going now, 2 weeks old. I will be sure to find the best males and make some seeds and cross with in the 2 OBVIOUSLY different versions of SKUNK#1, HGF is much more Indica Dominant and Stable. THE PURE is much more 50/50 hybrid and very light green. I will get females of both soon so the comparison can go as planned. Keep you updated.

There are 2 phenos found in the HGF so far, the shorter indica bush type is Dominant, but 1 is much taller and more stretchy. I suspect that yeild potencail will be effected within the 2 phenos. I will be sure to cover all details to give a complete report.

Hi icecold crickets. Nice too see another pure grow. Ive got a pretty good pheno currently but find it a bit tricky growing trees with it. The faster I can get it too veg the more I yield. First ever grow with it I pulled 24zip but havent come close with the pheno since. Gotta get it to a size without the woodyness creeping in in you know what I mean. Anyway Pulling up a seat for this .]
