light socket question

I have a sunsystem 150w that i ended up remote ballasting, and now im wondering if i would be able to change the mogul socket that it came with, and replace it with a medium base socket, and use a medium base 150w bulb. Also, i was wondering if anyone knew if there was an advantages/disadvantages of the medium base bulb.

my reasoning for wanting to change bulbs, is that, most of the big chain stores carry the medium base bulb, and its much smaller, so if i ever wanted to cool tube it (heat is an ongoing problem for me) i would have more clearance around the bulb.

yes you can change from mogul to medium base for the 150 - no real difference except the size...

I think the mogul base may be more efficient to the tune of like 10 lumens or something negligable like that.

pipedream summed it up best in the 150 thread by explaining how the mogul was invented to keep home owners from getting confused and sticking a standard blub in a medium socked..

alright, thank you for the information, would you happen to know if there is any difference in heat from the smaller bulb?

Careful here. Most people would consider medium based a "standard" bulb as thats the size of your standard household socket. Moguls were invented to prevent them from fitting a standard medium base socket as HIDs require separate ballasts while "standard" house lamps (Incandescents and CFLs) do not.
