Strains and their prefered mediums

It is often mentioned that certain strains or varieties prefer one medium over another. I've been a soil grower since I sowed my first seed almost 10 years ago and have only begun to experiment with other mediums such as coco and various soilless mixes...so my experience on this topic is limited at best. For my first couple grows in coco, I used Krome's The White as my test subject. My results with coco as compared to my previous soil grows were quite different. The soil plants stretched a bit more and also yielded roughly twice as much as the coco plants. However, the coco plants look closer to what I think The White should look like if you know what I mean. I know this is an unfair comparison due to my experience in soil and lack of in coco, not to mention I gave a half hearted effort and didn't devote the attention I should have to the coco grows, but I just wanted to share my preliminary results. I think with some practice and a little patience, I'll have the coco ladies at or beyond the same level as the girls in soil...only time will tell I guess. ;)

So lets hear it, give a goat some love and tell me (and the rest of the IC community) what strains you've seen perform better in one medium over another...we're listening. :)

Cool thread Goat!
I see all of my plants in their PEAK form in DWC buckets...I don't know what it is, but they are always bigger, better and more resinous and aromatic....If I am trying to see if a cut is worthy of keeping, I will wait till I can run her DWC to get her full potential...Like you said, it may not actually be what the plant is liking more, but what you are better at doing!
My best examples of plants shining WAAAAY better in DWC than PromiX would be SourDieselKush and SourDiesel IBL.

since moving i've had to switch from dwc to soil..organic..i have noticed a difference in growth habits and yield..but thats it..the quality of bud is about the same to me..soil plants might taste a little better atleast the wife says so..
as far as strains go i have not noticed one does any better one way or the other..
one way just grows them faster than another but it does not mean better quality..

as long as cannabis gets the nutrients it needs and growing conditions are acceptable, the plant will perform regaurdless of the medium. Ive always considered growth characteristics, (stetch and stuff) as genetic properties or perhaps the result of nutrient applications.

Growers and their preferred mediums is petinent. I learned here on Ic that if you want your weed to taste like chemicals, then grow it in chemicals. The only option for those attempting to avoid the chemical taste is organic soil.
