outdoor Ferts

i wouldn't suggest slow release ferts mate
outdoors id go with with a good liquid fert(seasol?)up untill they are established combined with some soil prep manures, composted material, few bags of a commercial blend and my favorite worm castings

set the soil up from the start and you limit the amount of fertilizer you will need, saving $$
and is also better for the environment

go medium release will work faster and generally weed eats alot compared to other houshold plants, and then top up every two weeks once there really growing fast..

there are so many to choose from, i like NPK blue for veg has a good NPK ratio for growing plants, flower id hit up hy-gen(hydroponic generations) or growth tech and use one of the single or 2 part flowering nutes for soil or medium you use.

If it has to be slow release or pellets give Aqua ponics or hydroponics express a call both do powdered and pellet nutes for large grows or outside.

but squiggles there must be alot of food in the soil to keep her that happy, grown plants there before?

i couldnt grow in the same bed year after year without adding alot of organic matter and then a little fert.

but well done i have same size in soil needs bar all food, in pots soil and coco totally different story alot less room for plant to find there food.

actually mate this bed has been in fallow for a few years and twas a chicken coup before then also added a new product this time a enzyme it improves soil structure and helps convert some minerals into a more usable form(my soil is like a big handful of rich chocolate cake except its full of worms and tastes of dirt :)).

i bulk up the soil before each and every grow(depending on its needs) twice a year in my current position.

im with you on pots would definatly need to keep the feed up

I'm with the others, don't use slow release where possible. Liquid/soluble ferts give you a much greater degree of control over dosage, plus with slow release you risk feeding too much nitrogen during flower. If you have to go slow release, try to find a one month formula if you can. If not, then three month absolute max, and only apply it during the first few weeks.

While adding manure to your site is a great idea, be careful. I used cow manure last year and I evidentally overdid it as it was clearly still around for flower. I was liquid feeding purely with potassium and phosphorous, yet I was still getting a lot of stem and leaf growth during flower. I even dug the manure in about 4 weeks before planting, wetting it through every so often, and it still happened to me. It must be said that because of males earlier in the season the only female I had went out very late (around this time last year) and went to flower very quickly. That definitely played a part.

But before you do anything with fertilisers, test your soil. Soil pH can make or break a grow, or at the very least, save you money and fertiliser from going to waste.

Prep the soil first if you can! I have a lot of red dirt here which is great for growing but i still add some basic organic matter and let sit for awhile.

Are you growing in pots or in old mother earth?

Where did you find greensand in Australia? I couldn't even find an overseas source that would ship to this country.

longy, any kind of slow release fertiliser you can find will not be ideal for flowering cannabis plants. They all have too much nitrogen. While you can use super phosphate granules to gradually deliver phosphorous, the best you can do for potassium is what Squiggles suggested. Unless you can get ahold of greensand, but even then, it provides only minimal amounts of potassium.

I could not have said it better myself :)

although this year i trialed some slow release pellets with the plants that were planted directly in the ground and the results were not half bad
